We really enjoyed our night at the Opera in Market Square, I want some more, Turandot would be good, Briony wants Madama Butterfly and Saskia wants La Boheme, so there you have it. Was great to just walk down to the town and enjoy such great culture here in Dover. Well Done to the Organizers

I dont know why some local trader hasn't set up a mobile snack van to attend these sort of events.

We went down there and were delighted to see so many people enjoying what has been decried on other forums as an 'elitist' entertainment. Two of us went around and counted those watching and both came up with around 88 only to be told that the BBC rep' had just counted 110 to 150. Can only assume that they count everyone passing through rather than those there to watch. This is a good way to get inflated figures but a poor way of assertaining the attraction of events and takes away from the fact that 88 people sat and thoroughly enjoyed an event that so many had put-down in advance.
I suppose if it had been a Saturday they would have given figures in the upper hundreds from all those walking to pubs, cafes etc.
Politics, it seems to me, for years, or all too long, has been concerned with right or left instead of right or wrong.

Tristan and Isolde please! Wagner - goes on for a long time - but totally transcendent.
Pure aural sex!
Gilbert & Sullivan would be good for a summers evening.

good idea sid, g and s done that one about the irishman, mick o'day.
they then got confused and put it in a japanese setting for some reason.
Probably not upmarket enough for those who enjoy the private seats though Howard.

It was a very good event and I was only pointing out that inflating the figures does it an injustice. I would like to see them stretch the idea further, maybe Akhenaten by Phillip Glass or a Stravinsky ballet.
