Goodness, Terry, that's a picture and a half. The fire must have been raging.
The poor folk next door. I feel sad for Dover too - it's another bit of its architectural beauty (yes, I like those houses!) destroyed.

John you did a sterling job there, you were the man on the spot and what you did is a credit to all, beyond the call of duty. A very commendable act of community spirit & bravery, Well Done

I'd imagine most of that terrace is probably grade 2 listed and with the fascade looking in a 'reasonable' condition it would be rebuilt...
Been nice knowing you :)

According to my partner, the USAC (Urban Search & Rescue) have been here most of the day searching the site (with SOCO) and shoring up the buildings. There have also been the usual collection of council suits, gas, electric, coppers etc. plus of course half the ne'erdowells of Dover trying to rubber neck.
I also understand from another source that the road will be closed again tomorrow whilst they continue their investigations.
Terry - the houses either side are empty at the moment as the police will not allow the owners and or tenants back in other than briefly collect belongings until the DDC building Inspector/Building Control pass them as safe.

Ross - I don't know 310 but Clare at 308 has put in an enormous amount of time and money on her house.

Thats a very good picture again Terry as it shows the situation exactly as is...only the shell left but as Scotchie says there, it would be re-buildable given the committment.

Tuesday morning and London Road is closed again. Kent F&R are back inspecting the building. I chatted to old friend (and former GHBS member) Bob Dale from Radio Kent. It seems that every time he takes a couple of days off something happens that he misses! However he did say that he had heard that there may be a couple of bodies in the rubble. I must admit that if that were the case then at least an overnight police presence would have been appropriate.
I have by the way been asked by traders to complain about the complete lack of diversion signage. Out of town delivery drivers for example have no idea where they are going and miss Granville Street and find themselves back the one-way system.

Can't help you on the owner Terry, I know who used to own it but as they are currently 'away' at Her Majesties Pleasure I do not know who has it now.
Politics, it seems to me, for years, or all too long, has been concerned with right or left instead of right or wrong.

Ah well done thanks for that Barry W-S. The two new ones didnt take and may have corrupted the earlier one which was clearly visible this morning. I think I will now have to delete the second batch to see if that frees the first one....its a headscratcher so it is.

Dammit..it didnt work. The top one still isnt showing.
Terry can you send me the picture that was at the top of the page. Very topical it was so good to have it, I will probably need to reload it as some problem took hold of the pictures on this second Fire page. May have been some slight corruption somewhere.
So if you get a minute Terry send it over and I will do the necessary. Many thanks.

I was about to reload the picture at the top of the page this morning but it now all appears fine and is working without any input from me.Must have been a gremlin in the works.
Terry has sent the same picture over to me now too and have added it to the frontpage also.
Many thanks Terry for the excellent pictures.

On behalf of London Road traders I asked KCC Highways why no diversion signs were placed at Granville Street. Apparently delivery drivers were missing the turning and going back round the one-way system.
I walked the route several times and saw nothing. Did anyone else spot any signs?
KCC say that they were in place, all I saw were the ones at the start of London Road.
