Lord Mandelson to do Come Dancing?

  I havent seen the very successful TV programme myself but you do come across snippets. Only yesterday I saw the soft shoe shimmy of former newshound John Sergeant on national news...for some unfortunate reason the chap is now known as the 'dancing pig'. Rather unjustly I would have thought. He's light on his feet and has lost 2 stone..so whats wrong with that sez I....
  
  Lord Mandelson, Labours leading light, having just watched the same clip as yours truly, did not rule himself out of taking part. Oooh I say !!.. Just think of it, this could be Labours secret plan to win the next election. 12 or 14 million viewers would watch him on the show and maybe even all vote for his Party in a general election. Golly gumdrops this could get the Tories worried. I could see Mandelson now...all flouncing forlocks, bum in air and knees together as he tackles his pasa doble!! A definite vote winner...and who cares about the economy going down the toilet.
  
  The Tories would have to have their go as its always balanced out. Im sure George Osborne could easily manage an eyewatering splitz in the middle of a pulsating pirouette, or even a backflip in the middle of his fandango!
  
  And a very liberal Nick Clegg would be entirely at home with a rumpy pumpy rumba! Oooh the mind boggles!

  Ah Yes, but none of them could come anywhere close to our very own Big DaveH on the dancefloor, the Independents have a champion there for shure.

  So far I have managed to NOT to watch Strictly come dancing with or without ice,XFactor,Brits have no Talent,I'm a Celeb gmooh,Big Brother.Gok or whatever his name is,that Celeb barbers programme or anything remotely to do with over the hill talentless z rated "who the bloody hell are they?" celeb type progs.Its just dumbing down TV.I am not popular at home but have recently noticed the girls becoming more interested in Minder,Wycliffe,Morse and Raising Damp etc
  
  I have also never seen the film or filim (for PaulB) Sound of Music but know all the bloody songs verbatim as I had to learn them as a kid so our family of 6 could perform them for visiting Aunts and Uncles who used to pop round for tea on a Sunday during the 'God hour'. Von Claptrap Family my Dad used to call us.....

  Laying here with my feet in the air , I dont want to think about dancing! I have to get better for the mayors dance however but wont be able to put shoes on for two weeks - but then stand back for my feckles!
  
  But do you watch football, Marek? same thing as strictly but more balls! I agree with you about the rest.

  Glad to learn that you are feeling OK. Of course I love football as I was brought up on a diet of Best Charlton and Law.My uncle played for New York Cosmos in the 50's a pioneer in taking football/soccer to the New World.
  
  Tomorrow England take on Germany in Berlin.It might be worth you switching on and watching the lads (hopefully) defeat the ol' enemy.

  i remember new york cosmos inthe 70's, franz beckenbaur, bobby moore and even pele.
  did not impress the sceptic tanks they had never heard of any of them.

  Ah yes I hope Big Dave can retrieve his feet from the knackers yard soon as I want to personally see his ever so nimble feet in high stepping action as he whirls the ravishing Linda across the Town Hall dancefloor !! I feel some pictures coming on for publication so I do. Dover's own Fred and Ginger!
  
  I speak of the annual Mayors Jamboree...at the moment the assorted WAGS are organising some tickets. They even insist that us poor hapless chaps wash behind our ears for the occasion...bit much if you ask me...

  Im not sure why I started this thread as Im not an expert having never seen the programme. But once again its been headlining the news. It seems lovable old hoofer John Sergeant, one time newshound, has called it a day due to him being too popular. Jeez we could all do with a bit of that affliction. He was winning on popularity alone which was miffing the judges and the other competitors. The viewing nation is gutted though and is demanding its license fee back etc etc.
  
  But all is not lost. I thought the original statement from Peter Mandelson that he wanted to do it was a bit tongue in cheek..but NO not a bit of it. This story has legs. He wants to do it for real. So just think...if he becomes as popular as John Sergeant he could even end up as Prime Minister.
  
  The mind continues to boggle!

  I respect Johns reasons for leaving - he is a genuine guy and after all he no doubt lost money because of it. much criticism of him came from those who had berated him beforehand. Its only a show but there is obviously big bucks involved. I am glad he is gone as I enjoy the good dancers and thts whats left - (although I regret the leaving of Cherie Lunghi) but in reality it makes little difference as its a knockout and all but one will go eventually.

  I hate to be a wee bit cynical but could Johns withdrawl from the competition have anything to do with the fact that he has a holiday to go abroad booked for two weeks time.
