Admiral Sir George Michael Zambellas GCB was appointed the new Lord Warden of the Cinque Ports in May of this year. His installation ceremony will take place at the Duke of Yorks' Royal Military School on Tuesday 29th October. This is just two weeks away.To my knowledge there has been no local publicity whatsoever. The only traceable knowledge of the event online appears,of all places,in the minutes of Tenterden Town Council on 11th September.Compare this on the one hand to the big Dover town events that were occasioned by the installations of three of his four predecessors,Sir Winston Churchill in 1949,Sir Robert Menzies in 1966 and the late Queen Mother in 1979,yet on the other hand the total lack of publicity of Speaker's Day in Dover last year.Does anyone recall what happened when the late Lord Boyce was appointed in 2004?Has the installation now become a private event only? There seems to be a lack of communication somewhere, assuming anyone is interested.
