Will your business sponsor this year's Paper Boat Race?
The London Road Community Forum is once again staging the ever popular paper boat race as part of the fun and festivities of the Pencester Gardens Horticultural Show, but with a slight difference this year: normally this event takes place during school term time and we can drum up participation from large numbers of schoolchildren who enter the event as part of a school project.
This year the event falls during the school holidays and, although we anticipate a good number of children will enter privately, we are hoping that the funds we can raise will be boosted by attracting entries from local shops, pubs and businesses. Andy Cooper's The Fabric Fairy business, for example, has already purchased 5 paper boats @ £1.00 each and pledged further support by way of sponsoring the event with a similar amount of cash on top of that; business sponsorship can be as little or as large as you can afford - sadly, we are living through difficult times money-wise, so we have to realise that businesses are, like all of us, struggling for cash. However, for just a few pounds, you can show tremendous support for The London Road Community Forum and our endeavours to rejuvenate our catchment area.
We can't promise your business will get a prime time ad in the middle of Coronation Street, but we'll give you an acknowledgement on this forum and we'll try to get the local press to cover the story; more than that, though, you'll be supporting a genuinely local group and that will be noted by local people. No matter how much you can afford, your sponsorship will be greatly valued, so please let me have your contact details and someone will be back to you to snap up your money!

Soundsgood (me) is also sponsoring some boats as well. To save the embarrassment of winning however I have decided that they shall be submarines!

Hi Tony - good to see you at The White Horse last night....in answer to your questions, the event is indeed on 8th August, part of Dover Town Council's Horticultural Event in Pencester Gardens. You don't have to make the boats yourself, which is good news for the origamically challenged amongst us (like me!) and the participation involved amounts to parting with your £50.00 note (well, you are a wealthy man!) and standing on the bank of the River Dour throwing missiles at the opposition's flotilla. Oops, I mean cheering your boat on to glorious victory!

I did go in the stocks in your ward years ago it was in all the local press and the kids loved it and so did I.

Just one more week to the fun and frolics of the DTC's Horticultural Fun Pet and Dog show on Sunday 8th of August at Pencester Gardens. Don't miss it anyone, its always an awesome event, not to mention the annual paper boat race hosted by our sexy pirated clad White Horse Landlady, none other than the delectable Miss Jeanette Harper herself, definitely not to be missed

Terry, thanks mate but just a little over exposed. It was a bit darker inside and outside today, so the lighting was a little indifferent, and now you can`t see the swimmer`s names on the wall.
