Yes Sid, I have a soft spot for foxes too. There is one in the City of London cemetery who follows me around because she always knows I'll feed her especially if she has cubs.

Magpies are from the rook family, and I'm sure we talked about rook pie on here earlier in the year.

Sadly Sooty the magpie didn't make it but we now have his brother who has also been abandoned and dubbed Sweep. Sweep is older and larger than Sooty and is not far off flying. He is housed in a huge cage in the garden and already has flocks of local magpie's visiting!

He arrived in a box.

The dogs not going to be pleased about sharing a bed - Oh look a rubber chicken!

Mummy!!

someone told me before the likelihood of birds like sooty surviving would be very unlikely.

It's true Howard, most die of shock but I've had a pretty good success rate, I've only lost 2 out of about the 10 or 12 I've found.

I had the same trouble when I was younger, couldn't keep a bird for more than a couple of weeks.
