07:215709We have about 8 or 9 members who have never posted and sadly their input remains on zero. We have a small but effective membership nowadays so we really need all members to make a contribution. Thats what its all about. No point in being a member and then not taking part.
So if you want to hold on to your membership then please take part. Will have to delete inactive members in a week or so. Let me make it CLEAR this is just for those who have NEVER posted at all.
Some members post only occasionally and thats fine.
Anybody currently on the outside who feel they would like to join DoverForum Letters Club and can make a contribution then please email
dover7@msn.com
Would be very interested in those regular writers to the newspapers..so if you are one of those get in touch. There will be just a few slots available as membership is limited. Many thanks.

21:315724strange that people read forums, but do not feel the need to give their opinion, if only now and again.
we do get some good letters in the local press, sadly some are anonymous, so are unworthy of comment.
certain locally important issues, turn into personal vendettas on the letters page, i stop reading anything by the correspondents then.
the possible hospital is one prime example.

10:015730I fink some like to just view the postings, but don't like posting in case they are attacked for having an opinion

15:375736Keith thats great to have people viewing the postings but they dont need to be members to do that. Should really change the word Member to Contributor as thats more the general idea. Most people are contributing and contributing very well and thats great. We have another new person onboard today
and have lost one who never logged in again after joining.

21:185749why do people get upset if someone diagrees with them?
surely that is the point of a forum, we can all learn from each other.

21:565750There is always something to learn from differing points of view (of course if they are disagreeing with me they must be wrong) so lets have more healthy debate.
Politics, it seems to me, for years, or all too long, has been concerned with right or left instead of right or wrong.

20:295848I love a "discussion"!!! Someone, please disagree with me!!! Seriously - there is much to be learned from a proper discussion, so bring it on!

13:425950Like many people, I am working long hours at the moment, (ok so i've got today off). I am not able to spend very long at the computer so dont post as often as I should.

16:266067The thing I love about discussions on the forum is that unlike discussions that take place face to face you've got time to think through what you want to say, the point you want to make and can then make it without being interrupted or shouted down, it's much more civilised. If people were unpleasant to me on a forum (which hasn't happened I'm happy to say) I would just disregard that posting, again something that you can't necessarily do face to face. I'm not a very confrontational person because I get flustered and then feel like I'm making a fool of myself. I like this way much better.

15:296087Sorry Paul,
I am one of the offenders. I have been away since becoming a member and I am writing this from Corfu. I have another two weeks to go and will start posting on return.
Alec.

This is complete now. We have lost SIX members who failed to contribute and gained one Jeanette Harper who is already contributing excellently, so thats a good deal as far as Im concerned. A bird in the hand is worth six on the wing!
We have a few spaces available now so if there is anyone out there interested in contributing drop me an email to

15:186128Yes Paul, you may have lost six who never posted but you have certainly gained one that you will never be able to stop.
