13:0165127should have added that it is caused by the earth passing through the swift-tuttle comet.
the weather forecast is for a clear night, although the best will be seen from rural locations that have less light pollution.

16:4565173This shower is called the Perseids, indicating which part of the heavens the shower comes from. Sadly no view down here at the Gateway due to all the lighting using up natural resources and polluting the air and causing global warming and so on and so moan......

22:4565276It`s a nice clear sky out there at the moment, so let`s hope for a good display. These meteor shower`s can be unpredictable though, despite what `experts` may forecast.

23:3365279Was perfect out there - half a dozen small ones, quite a lot of flashes, but one excellent streak across the sky which made it !!
Been nice knowing you :)

23:4965281Just come in a few minute`s ago. Nothing too much to shout about. A few bright streaks. I had the warm heavy coat on in the deckchair, a little bit fresh. Clouding up a bit now though.

10:1865328I saw eight last night for an hour around midnight, but only two really bright ones. Keep an eye out over the next couple of nights as although last night was the peak Perseids should be visible for a few days yet.

10:3665336The next lot will be the Orionids, due on 21 October with a ZHR of 20 as compared to 60 last night. Of course, the best ones are the Quadrantids, on 3-4 January when you can expect a ZHR of 100.
Are you all impressed?

10:4965345Up in the early hours, I did not see any meteors, only a huge number of stars - lovely sky.
But I did see lots and lots of bats flying around - there have been a lot more bats since the field we overlook has been set-aside for 10 or so years. Lovely.
