j have been told that there is an apparition in the photo in the opening post, right in the middle of the gate, didn't notice it the first time around.

Looks just like a patch of sunlight shining through the branches onto the leaves to me.

I try to be neutral and polite but it is hard and getting even more difficult at times.

Interesting view I found I had - looks very tidy without the tree cover and a lovely looking summer house on the corner, and benches to look out over the habour on Castle Hill. From the late 1800s I would estimate
Been nice knowing you :)

i can't work out what that white circle with a black spot in the centre is.
trying to work out where the picture was taken from, my guess would be the exit steps from the castle where they swing round to run nearly parallel with castle hill.

That is just a spot on the original exposure
The image is taken from the top of the Burlington Hotel with the Castle just cut off at the top of the shot - the site now would be the petrol station on Townwall Street !!

Great photo Paul - it makes Viccy Park look really smart - I love trees, but does look better in this photo.

Very interesting viewpoint, especially with all the saplings marching up the hill

Can you make out the glass roof slightly to the right of Number 1? The tropical garden is still there, but the roof is long gone. the tiled floor, the beds, drainage etc. It must have been quite something when it was operating as it was meant to be. Private gardens to the side on Castle Hill too. 1 and 26 are really quite special houses.

Here is an up to date picture of Victoria Park taken from a similar position to Ed's Victorian one. Sorry it has taken me so long to post something I promised ages ago.
Happy Christmas to you all.
