How many times has Brown denied any reponsibility for the economic disaster?
How many times has he blamed America or 'world economic conditions'?
How many times has Brown claimed we are in a better position to 'weather the downturn' than other countrues?
How many times have I pointed out how over 11/12 years Brown's mismanagment has made thing worse for us than for other western countries?
How many times have I pointed out Brown's many mistakes?
Now it seems that Alistair Darling, Brown's Chancellor, agrees with me....
Darling is trying to 'sugar the pill' and to make it easy on Brown by talking about how 'we must take collective cabinet responsibility for the mistakes that have been made'. But of course while it is indeed right for collective cabinet reponsibilty to apply, we all know the mistakes were entirely those of the once all powerful Chancellor Brown.
Brown is not amused, in fact he is fuming and is still telling journalists in America that he is not responsible.
So is there going to be warfare between no 10 and no 11 and will our seriously weakened PM prevail against the man who was his stooge?
We will see.

I heard Nick Robinson a short while ago this morning interviewing Gordon Brown and the Alastair Darling situation came up...Alastair has called for a bit of humility from the government which has wrongfooted Gordon bigtime. I wont go in to the usual ins and outs of the interview but how Nick Robinson summed up this latest 'humility' situation.
Nick Robinson says that Gordon Brown cannot apologise because he seriously believes in his heart that he did nothing wrong. He genuinely believes the problems came from " a seize up in the global banking system" which stemmed originally from America. This is essentially true of course, no matter how the Tories spin it ..however there may have been some mistakes made here that if they hadnt been made the recession may have hit us less hard. I think thats where Alastair Darling is coming from with this humility angle.

PaulB - The mistakes made were massive, not minor. The regulatory changes Brown made in 1997 were a total disaster, let alone all the iother mistakes I have mentioned. He was responsible full stop. He may genuinely think he was not, but then many believe that he is actually delusional.

I have just seen this little snippet in the Times by Alice Miles.
"""Can the country really bear another 14 months of this? Not even ministers are sure they can endure it: one member of the Cabinet told me recently that, despite the hell of being in opposition, he could hardly wait for the election to get away from the misery and directionlessness of the Brown regime: "Gordon doesn't start from a position of conviction, he just wants to create dividing lines with the Conservatives.""""
Darling now this, there is certainly trouble brewing for Brown even among those who are supposed to be most loyal.

Its fine the Labour party are well aware that as the Conservatives have few policies that they will attempt to discredit Gordon
It was T Blair before him, The laboutr party once they get re elected (cos people just so dislike the tories and have seen how bad they got) some have very long memories
As I said in another post I will not gloat when it happens

McBroon is a prize chump. Wouldn't trust him to run a bath.

Frankly they are all (politicians that is) as bad as each other - I wouldn't trust any of them to sit the right way on a toilet far less run the country
