I have seen a recent photo of the Love Dover team. It seems they have appointed
new members. however no names .
Second note looking on DTC web site advertising meetings I see they have a time limit. One hour for planning and two hours for full council Why do Councillors bother to turn. Up or indeed the public.Talk about censoring debate.
I'm surprised the current Mayor is not more open to debate.

I try to be neutral and polite but it is hard and getting even more difficult at times.

I didn't recognise either name which is probably a good thing and both seem to be ably qualified in their different fields.

Sue
You have made 2 observations, heres my view;
on the first on Town council meeting times, I'm unaware of any changes to the standing orders, so these times in this case would be incorrect, as standing orders say meetings should not go past 9pm, which is sensible. usually an hour is the period that people hold concentration, so hopefully that answers that.
On the Love Dover, these appointments were announced some time ago, but my worry remains of the unaccountable £350,000 given away to this group.

Oh dear I think the one hour rule is when a speaker goes on too long.Surely chairman should be able to allow debate and then move on .Children have to spend longer than an hour attending lessons and surely elected representatives should be so interested that time is irrelevant .What I hate now is attending meetings and public limited on how long they are allowed to speak .I will be trying to raise the bus issuie at River Parish Council meeting

Hi Sue
There is nothing in standing orders to limit time for duration of a meeting.
There is of course limits on how long an individual can speak, no different to any other council.
since joining DTC I have noticed all 3 parties on an individual basis attempt to stifle debate.
They are probably used to 10 minute meetings with few questions.
Of course when I'm at meetings there are many questions, thus the meetings are longer, some not liking it, but im elected to serve the electorate not to sit and rubber stamp items after 10 minutes, nor will I.

I'm sure for many(not just labour) they would have preferred a voting fodder person.
I'm lucky enough to be able to support any or all 3 parties
sadly none of the 3 are consistent at the moment
