I always use a pizza slicer to chop coriander when I'm making Thai fish soup.
Thought you'd like to know that.

Terry, nice to find something different on here for a change mate. Regarding the pizza slicer, I always prefer to use a sharp knife, less messy. I`ve never had Thai fish soup personally, anything near to it which I may possibly have tried to compare it with?

Terry
Bloody good idea. Thanks.

There are many types of Thai fish soup. Here's a simple recipe
8 cups fish stock (try Knorr cubes)
2-13.5 ounce cans coconut milk
1 cup fresh lime juice
1 cup of combined fresh coriander and flat leaf parsley - chopped
1 cup spring onions, sliced thin
1/2 cup fresh ginger, peeled and finely chopped
1/2 tablespoon fresh garlic, chopped
1/2 cup thai fish sauce (try the supermarket or buy it off the internet)
3/4 cup red pepper, chopped
3/4 cup yellow pepper, chopped
2 tablespoons lemon zest
2 tablespoons lime zest
1 tablespoon Thai hot pepper sauce (or any you can get your hands on)
2 pounds firm fish, skinned and chunked, such as halibut, snapper, marlin (most fish or seafood will work in this recipe)
Directions
Bring fish stock to a simmer, add all other ingredients, except the fish and 1/4 cup coriander mix. Bring back to a simmer. Cook for about 5 minutes. Add fish and continue to simmer for 8 to 10 minutes. Add rest of coriander and parsley,
This recipe serves 8 to 10 hungry people so reduce the measures accordingly.

Clever idea, Terry. I'll try that next time I'm chopping herbs from the garden.
Marek has anticipated my next question. So that's okay
When I can't find my cheese scraper, I've been known to use a (clean) potato peeler. Works nearly as well, but you don't get quite the width of slices

My top tip concerns washing up. When the dishwasher (me) doesn't work I get my other half to perform the task. Works every time too.

Growing tomatoes and recycling :
Our son says tomato plants like growing in compost with added fish heads (raw of course), and banana skins, so I have been burying these in the large pots of tomatoes, in the greenhouse, and tubs outside. If our visitors stop coming we shall know why. Does it matter what fish it is, I wonder? (trout on this occasion).

Kath, trout is okay provided it's caught out of season and comes from the River Dour, preferably the section close to Ian's abode.
