Many of those 'local and small time politicians' are themselves in the same category as you, Bern. Why is it that so many people seem to think that politicians are not part of our society and are somehow unlike them? - weird. Politicians reflect our society as a whole and to be frank if you were to categorise them, what you decribe as being your profile, would relect the majority of local politicians.

Well if thats the case Barry how do you explain that the 'local' Tory prospective candidate holds his bank account with Coutts according to the Dover Express old Charlie was seen passing a Coutts cheque at a local restaurant..thats very ordinary I must say.
By the way this is not an attack on Charlie who I like and respect but he certainly doesn't ''reflect the majority of local politicians'' as you put it.

Marek - My wife had her current account with Coutts when I met her and only changed it in the last couple of years!!! So exactly what is the point you are making?

Well the point I am making is that Coutts is not your typical High Street bank and caters for the likes of the Royal family and those who maintain a healthy balance and the second point is...oh why oh why couldn.t I meet someone as attractive as your wife with a Coutts account. It does have a better ring to it than the co-op but at least with the coop you used to get your divi stamps.I bet your wife never got them at Coutts..so boo hoo to you

Ahhhhh well Marek. Just because she had a Coutts account doesn't mean she had money, I wish, as I view my latest post-holiday credit card statements!!!!
As I told her at the time, its really just another 'branch' of Nat West with a historical name and higher charges.
As for the attractive bit - no comment, I value my equipment too much to say anything about that
So.......no-one else hides their money under the matress then...? (And before local burglars start revving up, I am joking!!!)

Ah Coutts, one used to pay ones subscription to The Illustrated London News and The Tatler with their illustrious cheques until it was made clear that they were just an illustrious branch of the National Westminster Bank so there was only one answer, close 'ones' account
