As you know I am coming off the main B.T.LINE because of the cost and I need to cut back, but with the help of my mate[Yes I do have some] I think I can stay on line.
This is what I am planning to do.On the 28th of May I will come off B.T. and just use my pay as you go phone but I am going to get a lap top I will then use a Dongle with it the cost of this is only £10 per month for the Dongle and what I use on my M/phone this way I can stay on line and save some £30 per month,so after the above date I will have a very good computer and all what goes with it up for only £50,
I remain yours faithfully Vic Matcham

Good to hear you are carrying on Vic with your Dongle !!
I myself am not too sure what a Dongle is but as long as its not painful then all should be fine. Seriously though if you can make good savings then its a great idea.

that should set a few lively minds off john.
with a general election due in a year or so, with victor standing(i mean for parliament), it could prove to be a vote winner.
we would not like to see him lose his deposit again though!!!

Well said lads when I put it on I did think you would say a joke about it, and I like it, but I must say I do not know what a Dongle is but it is going to save me money and will keep me here to.
I remain yours faithfully Vic.
From now on most of my letters will not have Matcham on them, just the letter[M]

Be wary Vic. Mobile phone internet usage is VERY expensive. On the face of it the monthly charge might be small but the usage charge can be enormous. Make sure that you have all the costings worked out before you commit yourself.

Judging by Terrys info there Vic, it may not be a good idea to start using your Dongle all of a sudden, especially if you havent used it before. I mean anything might happen if you rush at it too quickly and you can easily get led astray...on costs. Best to take further advice

Thank you for that Paul I do rush in at times as you know but I will have to think about this one again I still have 3weeks to make up my mine.

A friend of mine had one of those once - a Dongle, that is - and it was lethal. Vic, you really must make sure you have appropriate training to handle it. It always comes with a health and safety warning, and you really do need to read every word of the manual before you ever think about touching it. Using a Dongle without proper training is very dangerous. I understand South Kent College may offer a three-year course in Dongle Handling and Effective Dongle Management, so it might be worth signing up for that. Otherwise, I think you stay clear of them Vic. Word has it that dongling without due care and attention is also an offence and you could get an £80 fixed penalty notice.

Vic, using your Dongle after hours can be very expensive, so take care when using it whilst mobile as the fixed penalty notice could kick in quite suddenly

A dongle can be many things. Normally it's a small piece of hardware that complements a program. In this case it's a small transmitter/receiver that plugs into the laptop and communicates with the 3G mobile network to access broadband.
My son has one. It's slow, unreliable and can hardly support voip.
In short Vic, please don't.

O.k.
It is all done now thank you all for your help and comments and I have gone for a new Dongle I come off B.T. at noon on the 28th of May I will not have a main line phone but my cost will be cut by about £30 each month I am going to get a lap top and it will keep me going as I am today.
I remain yours faithfully Vic ]M]
Vic I think you missed what people have been saying.
Bottom line here was DON'T HAVE A DONGLE AT ALL !!
Have a look at what other packages are around.
For about £40 a month from Virgin media I get phone line with free landline calls, virgin media TV (basic package) got Sky downstairs and broadband.
Give them a call. they are really good. They will help you find the right pacakge to suit your needs
