Going back to my point about the second placed candidate, I see that the Lib Dems have said they had been organising to back the candidate they believed was the weakest, and therefore, the easiest to beat in the general election. Maybe No2 was the stronger candidate and this has been lost in the hype.
Here in the Dover constitiuency I hear that there was a campaign to select a Tory candidate that was not only local but knew where Sholden was, it failed.
