I hate to moan ( Brian dont even start ) but i feel something must be done up my way along the terrace end to all the over grown hedges that are in blossom and have taken over the public paths , its bad enough people are forced to walk in the road at a blind corner spot but now we have the masses of bumblebees in the hedges and major risk of stinging happeneing , sadly the local cllrs dont seem bothered but im fearful that a lot of young children are at risk with the amount of bees also the risk of being knocked over by the lewis hamiltons we have up around here due to the size of hedges.

If its hedges attatched to peoples gardens Mel then they are responsible for trimming it.
grass grows by the inches but dies by the feet.

Can I also moan about overgrown hedges and trees. Salisbury Road from Frith Road end to Albert Road, my usual walk to work, is dodge the brambles or duck the trees.

If you are uncomfortable with contacting the owners (verbal abuse/punch on the nose), then Kent Highways is the answer, just let them know the address amd they'll request they cut it down - I have to contact them this morning about overgrowing trees, bushes and brambles along Folkestone Road.
You can of course contact your Councillor to do it.

surely the owner of the property is responsible for any overgrown shrub?
They are, but Kent Highways are fabulous if the said hedge is dangerous. I had to call them a couple of years ago for that reason. They were really helpful and courteous.

Overhanging foliage
A house in our village, over the last few years, has had tree and shrub foliage overhanging the pavement. When the KCC came round recently to survey the road-mending they left the householder a notice that, unless the foliage was trimmed back in SEVEN DAYS, the council would do it and send a bill to them. It was acted on immediately and most of the foliage has now been removed back to the property boundary.
Anyone worried about overhanging or dangerous hedges and foliage or something blocking the pavement, do contact KCC Highways - if you write or e-mail then keep a copy and write again if nothing is done.
Nomally our parish council keeps a check on things like this, and the KCC come, I think, twice a year to trim back verges and hedges overhanging roads and pavements.

Good to hear something positive about KCC for a change. Maybe our KCC Councillors, whoever they are now, could 'up' their profile a bit instead of slinking off to Maidstone on an expenses jolly.

I contacted the council last year and the trees and brambles were trimmed the next day. I suppose I will have to do the same again this year.
It is just irritating that some people are so thoughtless, or is it lazyness on their part.
