21:4411507Simon Finlay of the what was the Dover Express now it is by name only.
Mr Prosser who currently has a majority of 5000, is likely to be the only Labour survivor in Kent with a majority of 0.88 per cent or around 500votes, well if that is true last time I got well over 600votes and I will be standing again this time with even more funding of my own then I had last time, puts me in avery good position, I was in the blues last year that did not work out, I did say I would work for them but they did not need me been with the reds before but avery long time ago, I am on my own again now if any party would like to talk to me before it is to late, A new Independent party have wrote to me and asked if I would stand along side them this is their first year and have wrote to all independent who went for it on their own last time asking us all to join up with each other and then we would get T.V. TIME to say what we stand for. At this time I have not wrote back. But you can take it from me one way or the other I will stand again next time and I do not think that is along way ahead.
I did at one time think that the blues would get in at Dover but of late they have not made their mark and are loseing ground each week, again it is down to public speaking hear in Dover they are not good at it or in the whole of England, if you have no good public speakers you are not going to get in, and I am good at public speaking been doing in for years, you have to go for it put the publics hair on end if you can not do that you are dead.
I remain yours faithfully Vic mATCHAM

i wish you all the best for the next general election.
just one minor point before i put out the mince pie and glass of sherry for mr claus.
in your last line you insisted that you would put peoples pubic hair on end.
it may make their eyes water but may alienate them from voting for you .

08:3111512Very funny Howard - but there is an "L" in his public hair. Made me chuckle tho'.
Vic - had you been drinking last night - Tories making no advancement locally indeed.
The local District Council is run by the Conservatives, there's 28 blue oouncillors there and 15 Labour.
Dover is on the edge of some fantastic redvelopment and regeneration - because Dover is punching well above its weight and its Paul Watkins and his Cabinet who are doing the punching.
Dover is leading East Kent on many things and are entering partnerships with other local authorities to improve services and make them affordable - and help keep Council tax as low as possible without a negative impact on services, and balancing the budget.
I do think that the message is not getting across properly and this applies Nationally too.
If people want Dover to realise its potential, they'd be so much better off (in every way), to stick with the Conservatives and build on that momentum by voting in a Conservative MP at the next opportunity too.
Have a Good Christmas.
Roger

What you didnt say was there are no independent cllrs which is an interesting point from the vic matcham side.
Rest of you post Roger obvioiusly I don't agree with and won';t waste my time on that
everyone knows it will be a close fight for the Dover MP
but Gwyn is(like vic says) is all the time building his seat, and where as everyone thought he was going to lose 3 elections ago 15 years later hes still here, and now looks like even our charlie won't get him out.
I have to say Charlie when iv met him is a nice chap, but nice chaps don't win elections.
Eyes will be on this seat
GOOD LUCK TO ALL CANDIDATES
And when Gwyn wins we can look forward again!!

11:4811570Sorry Keith - you're right, there are no Independant Councillors and just 2 lib-dems.
There can't be any argument about the regeneration surely ??
I wouldn't expect you to support Charlie E. would I ? I wouldn't personally insult Gwynn at all, just not vote for him, which is understandable, me being a Conservative.
Happy New Year
Roger

Didn't insult charlie, just a point of view, you have certainly been critical of Gwyn in the past.
Yes we are poles apart, but does that matter, I don't care if its labour/tory.indy/lib dem or raving loony party
Dover needs help.
Whilst no one wants to be negative, wonder what those woolies staff are thinking now?
or all the other closures?
I suspect they are not not thinking of Dovers regeneration

17:2311578i walked past woolworths today, what a depressing sight.
glanced inside to see the vultures picking the last bits of meat from the bones.
the staff managing to look stoical despite the knowledge that from tomorrow they go from low pay to no pay.

17:4911579Tuesday is when they close Howard - they told me today when I was in there picking the proverbial meat of their bones.
It is sad that through no fault of theirs, they are losing their jobs.
Actually Keith, they may well be looking to Dover's regeneration, as that is where many of the jobs will come from - sadly not quick enough.

17:1915206Roger mentions that Dover is 'leading East Kent on many things and are entering partnerships with other local authorities to improve services', is this like us having a Unitary Authority? A unitary by the backdoor perhaps.
