sorry to be vague but i have been told that a high quality local band will be performing at the above mentioned venue tomorrow afternoon.
the weather forecast is not bad, how about making up a thermos flask and knocking out a few rounds of sandwiches?
add a blanket and a few fishing stools and we have a free event to enjoy.
Tomorrow afteroon? Midday until 17:59 or just a bit of that time? I may be able to get down there for an hour if you have more info please Howard.

A thousand lights - never heard of them. Local you say? Where was the advertising you saw for this Howard?
I can't say I've seen any posters, flyers, newspapers articles or billboard advertisements pushing it...maybe I went temporarily blind to it all though?
Are the band the organisers or is there something else in Pencester tomorrow that they're playing in conjunction with?
So annoying that we never find out about this sort of stuff until the last hour!
I know a million ways to always pick the wrong thing to say

First I heard about it was last week when I was told that there was a "possibility" of an event on Saturday. My advice was sought to determine the acceptable sound level in Pencester.
From my point of view running on to 23.30 is a definate no-no.
Sounds like a semi-religious group to me.

Not heard of them either Jeanette - and me and friends usually follow the local guide with bands as we often out and about supporting them. But will have to rely on someone to let me have feedback on how good they are as we are off to Scotland today, so will miss it.
Looks like you gonna need your brollys and a groundsheet if you planning to be there for the afternoon/evening

They're on from 2 to 5 according to the their myspace page -
http://www.myspace.com/a-thousand-lights. Take your earplugs if you go, sound like a typical thrash metal-indi-emo with attitude band.

jeannette
i have seen no posters or flyers, someone mentioned to me in town that a band would be playing.
they thought i would know more.
I think this is a "raveup gig" and not any officially organised event with either DTC or DDC which would require the appropriate stewarding etc. Hence why no publicity as it is dependant on those who find out (at short notice) where and when it is by Facebook etc.
I doubt if this would have been agreed by DTC/DDC as to-morrow is the Flower and Dog show and a large area of Pencester Gardens are , I think, being prepared for the event to-day.

being the hip dude, mister cool of the forum i made it my business to pop along and see them this afternoon.
excellent quality band though the bass sound must have made the flats nearby reverberate.
listened to about four of their songs, liked them all, and they played their instruments well.
not quite up to the standard of bing crosby but they will improve.
yo dudes.
Hip, dude?????? Howard who are you talking about ?????

I'm sure I remember a few years ago that DTC were going to organise music events on a regular basis during summer months; I'm sure David H. said he would be in charge of this.
It could have woken up the Town on week-ends and brought vibrancy here; different music tastes would have been catered for, so everyone would have been happy.
I seem to remember people saying about kids on bikes were spoiling it on the odd occasions that music events were put on.

I drove past yesterday afternoon and there was some "noise" coming from a band - but the park seemed fairly busy.
