One of the idiots killed it by hitting it against a wall and proudly announced 4 2 as in a score and then threw it back in.

- 23 June 2011 21:55111573With all the money being spent on river pathways, walks and soon to be regeneration around the Town, including Buckland Paper Mill, it does surprise me that the thought of a river warden doesn't enter into any officials head.
It will all be for nothing; thousands/millions will be spent on regeneration, but without care being taken for the river and perhaps the parks by employing a warden, it will continue to be a floating skip and an eyesore.

Me. I'd like to report some illegal fishing.
EA. and where would that be please?
Me. The river Dour in Dover. Barton path.
EA. (long pause) Dover has a river?
Me. yes.
EA. and what makes you think they are fishing illegaly?
Me. It's January.
EA. Whats that got to do with it?
Me. It's the closed season for trout.
EA. how do you know they are fishing for trout?
Me. We only have Trout in the Dour, nothing else.
EA. ok we will try and get someone out there.
3 Days later I get a call back from them.
Sorry but our nearest officer was in East Kent.
I have never made a call to them since.

about two years ago there were a couple of chaps from the agency doing a few things beside the river in pencester, seemed to involve a lot of note taking so i asked one what it was all about.
he explained how the dour was high on the agencies list of priorities and that they would be making regular visits to ensure it was kept to a high standard.
that was even funnier than ian's phone call.
