First picture shows the inside of the Bus garage on the day it was demolished. A large bulldozing JCB thingy posed for pictures with the aforementioned councillors then proceeded to knock seven bells out of the rest of the skeleton...and in a thrice it was gone. Various media people were invited to see the building dying. But, as I said earlier...it was a cheerful occasion in that it was the first step on the ladder to a brave new world...or so we thought.
The very same day Terry Sutton had his book launch at the Churchill Hotel, all bigwigs in attendance. But jeezez we've all gone downhill since then...the brief flurry of optimism didnt last, now even The Churchill has closed, and the bus garage site stands as a monument to what might have been. Bleak.

I did say that at the time,My words reading them now,"Yes it is coming down but will we see a new building,it is a no to that all we will see is a painted fence,"my words then not now.It is all wrote down.

Roger - 2 March 2010 22:4841955I have only just logged on to the Forum after a very tiring day .I went to County Hall to discuss Age Concern .I return to read all hell has broke loose on this forum .
knives are out back biting bitchy comments just like a play ground .
I feel very sad I know the efforts and all the work that Cllr Watkins and Cllr Scales have put into the Asda project .The Officers too Vic .
Market forces would not stand so many super markets .Morrisons were lucky to get in first .
Personally I hope we will get an anchor store which does steers away from food .
Vic you are very good hearted but please stop electioneering .
We all know you can sort the world out you have a magic wand and you can flood Dover with Hundreds and Thousands of one pound notes .
You will be a dictator no need for officers .You can do all the legal work ,sort out all the housing and patks .A truly wonderful chap .Keep dreaming .
Im just very sad .One step forward and two back
I shall fight another day but you just wonder sometimes .
THere has and is a recession .Hard times are ahead ..
