barryw, roger, there are some questions i would like to be answerd by the pair of you in light of the pending election.
1,will the nhs as it is now survive or will there cut backs so much as to the bone.
2,will the minimum wage and working tax credits be safe,ie,stay in place or will they be scraped and replaced by somthing else if at all.
3,will the conservativs be driving a big wedge between the uk and the eu.
thanks in advance.

Brian - I know what I want but sadly this will not be delivered:
1/ I want the bloated and inefficient NHS to be included in the essential cut backs but the Conservative policy is to ring fence it and protect it. A big mistake as it will mean that other budgets have to be cut deeper.
2/ I want the destructive minimum wage to be abolished as it has set a norm that locks people into a low wage. Sadly it will be kept by Cameron. The Tax Credits is something else I want to see go as they are wasteful and inefficient but sadly it is only those families with an income of over £50,000 that will see them cut.
3/ I long for the Conservatives to get us out of the EU. They will renegotiate our membership to reclaim powers and eventually our exit is almost certain, but it wont happen soon. A Conservative Government wont want a fight with the EU, initially at least, as it will have enough on its plate with the deficit.
So there you are, on those few issues you are closer to the Conservative leadership than I am!

Look on the Conservative website for detailed policies Brian if you are really interested.
|This is for the draft manifesto, what has been launched so far:

tax credits and the minimum wage are a godsend for the lower paid, why people over 50 grand got any is beyond me.

irrespective of the huge waste involved in the monolithic NHS, any manifesto cuts would consign the blues straight back to the back benches for a further 13 years.

I have given my opinion on the matter Howard. I think the public are not as stupid as some think they are.
Totally disagree with you on the min wage and tax credits. They lock people into low incomes and dependency. Get rid of them.

I don't know, I think some people think, us, the public are very stupid indeed. Reading through my 'issue' of 'People Talk' yesterday, I felt truly patronised.
Firstly, I don't read 'Take a Break' magazine or love associated formats just because I live in a town with high levels of deprivation.
Secondly, because someone eats fry-ups on the pier and likes walking their dog, it doesn't make them 'like the rest of us'. It just makes them someone that likes eating fry-ups and walking their dog.
Now as I always say, I think Charlie Elphicke is a good man. But whoever suggested this 'publication' was a good idea, really does have a low opinion of the local electorate. It could well be the same person that has told David Cameron to wear a suit without a tie, because it makes you look 'more normal'. Is anyone being fooled by this? Tie or no tie, all I can see is the image of him in his etonian attire, a constant reminder that he does not represent me.

excellent post DT, you had the same reaction as me to that awful publication.
someone is giving very bad advice to chas, probably the same person that made william hague dress up in a baseball cap, jeans and trainers and brag about knocking back vast quantites of beer on an average day.
