20:2732612apologies for stating the obvious about tomorrow, but just a reminder that the service starts outside the town hall at 10.30 am with the two minutes silence at 11. 00 am.
with the military history of dover and its suffering in the last conflagration, it makes for a poignant ceremony.

i find that very hard to believe, how did you get victor to stay quiet for 60 seconds?
many people would like to know the answer to that.

Feel like i waNT to protect poor old vic on this one.
having said that vic did pick on a 4 year old at crabble so maybe shouldnt protect him

13:2332648I would have gone down to the Service in Town only I have very bad gout in my right knee at the moment and it is impossible to walk without a great deal of pain.
I'm sure it was a moving service as it is every year; I did watch it on the TV - leg up of course.

14:0932650An excellent turn out. Good to see old Gadaffi back in harness again. The only problem being the number of people pushing past, even walking through Cantium Brass!

23:3432679The service at River was well attended probably over two hundred and fifty there .Various village organisations laid wreaths .The wreath laying was led by the Chairman of River Parish Council. It gets a bit cold underfoot as the grass is usually wet .
On another note I have just tidied up before coming to bed and in passing I looked at a picture which my son put up today after waiting for several months .What is the picture of a Poppy field .How strange is that .November can be a very sad month .I shed a few tears last night .watching the service from the Albert Hall .Those young widows .Unless you have experienced a similiar loss it can be hard to understand .For a child never to have known a Farther can be very sad .Those young widows have some difficult times ahead .
A very sad weekend .

01:3032683It was indeed very well attended this year and very moving as always, saw a lot of familar faces in the crowd and yes certainly missed seeing you there Roger, sorry to hear about your gout, I believe that it is a very painful condition so keep resting and keep putting that leg up regularly until it feels better.

07:5232686Thanks Colette - I missed going down there too.
Awake every hour last night, so got up at 06.00 to take some more tablets. If I keep it still and straight it's not too bad, but the slightest movement is agony.
I can't drive or walk, I sat spreadeagled on the back of Jean's car while she drove into Town Saturday, but we soon went home again.

08:5732691Excellent turnout at Deal. Increased numbers with Armed forces cadet corps, Cubs, Scouts, Brownies etc. there in vast numbers. Those laying wreaths increases every year.
