You may have seen in the news pages that 6 people were rescued from below the cliffs near St Margarets bay yesterday. These photos were taken by Marco Nista from Dover Ferry Photos forum
http://www.doverferryphotosforums.co.uk and he has given me permission to post them here for you.
THE PHOTOS DISAPPEARED SO HAVE REPOSTED THEM IN A LATER POST.
Thanks Marco - great photos x

Well done with that Jacqui...absolutely great shots of the drama as it unfolds, so a well done to Marco Nista too. Yes I heard about this..i think it was on the BBC..six people, presumably visitors who know nothing of tides and so on, were caught out as the tide came in. Nobody should walk along a cliff line is the rough and ready advice.
Amazing how close those helicopter pilots can get to the cliff face. Some skill there.

I suspect that is very much the perspective but that chopper looks very close to those cliffs, just one gust of wind!!! Great photos.

Great photo !
That's the amazing thing with cameras sometime - I still can't get my head around depth of field as I have photos of the Western Heights where the castle looks feet away
Been nice knowing you :)

were they visitors from far away?
i seem to recollect that on more than one ocassion rescue teams have had to go in and airlift local people from that same area.
the tide comes in and surrounds the unwary.
how did they notify the rescue people?
my understanding is that mobile phones do not get a signal there.

They do Howard, just a French one !
Bit confused about the location as that is just below the coastguard station and not near St Margarets ?

Rather odd really as it isn't that far between the end of the eastern arm and the ladder up to the searchlights, so they must have been taking a chance as it isn't a particularly fast tide around here.
