One comment below the list speaks about some hospitals appearing more than once and without knowing the number of patients 'seen' it is all rather meaningless.
Perhaps this is why, in English, numbers and anaesthetics are spelt the same way.

Ignorance is bliss, bliss is happiness, I am happy...to draw your attention to the possible connectivity in the foregoing.

the article is not very scientific, not only about the numbers but also it doesn't explain hw many complaints were upheld.
i was not surprised abou the q.e.q.m being up there, in my experience they have earned the accolade.
no doubt others will have been happy with treatment and courtesy there.

Very depressing.
Let's hope they are shamed into doing something about it and improving.

Sorry I do not agree with any of that,I have been in QEQM hospitals no less then 3 times this year and last year,I have to go to the Hospital every 3weeks, the staff and Drs have always been very very good. I also have to go to the Ashford, and Canterbury ones and they are the same and the treatment and staff have always been 100%.
The General Public can be very rude too....
The media are very quick to put down the "Service" sector...and these surveys are headline catchers......
Treat people as you would like to be treated....
I say hurray for all Hospital staff.........
When I look at the shapes and sizes of most of the people in the High Street. It must be very tiring to be in Body Management these days......

Mr Norman I just about to write about that,What I see when I go the hospital how very rude some members of the public are to the staff even in the shop in there.

just goes to show how our experiences differ, myself and vic for example - probably because we use different departments.
every time someone rings me for a procedure they always say it is at q.e.q.m each time i tell them that i can choose any hospital i like under rules laid down by the last government and they dutifully book me in at the k & C.
i have never been offered an appointment at canterbury as first option so it must be assumed that they are having difficulty finding the patients to go there.

you have obviously never entrusted yourself to the endoscopy unit at margate vic.
how can any organisation be perfect anyway, there are good and bad staff in all walks of life.

well thats a wonder,at least they are hospitals, ands more than i can say say for buckland hospital.what a sorry excuse that is,spent two hours there yesterday only to be told that i needed to go to william harvey if i needed to see a doctor.when i asked about how long i would have to wait for a docter,i was told 4 to 6 hours.one word for it and that is disgusting.

That is true Howard, there is and if you get one member of staff that is rude, must say that has not happen to me yet,but if you do,that does not mean that the Hospital bad does it? 30mins later and you might have come across one that was not.. Brian we all know if you go to Buckland you will not see a Dr there are notices on the walls telling you that.I do not know why you went to the Hospital in the first place, but if you was so unwell you could have got the Dr on call to come to you.
We are now discussing the system(s)....
which leaves a great deal to be desired.....
It is the systems that people are left in to be churned around....
because, we are not important as individuals anymore.....but that should not affect how we behave to each other on a one to one level....

vic, thanks for the advice.but in my expreiance with the on call docter he/she prefers to sit in his/her tax payer heated office.by rights there should be a docter during opening hours of the minor injerys hours.

Brian I think you are out of order with your last remarks about Drs on call,as for the other one,as I said we all know there is no Dr there, you have not told us did you go to Ashford or not? and if you did how long did you wait? if not, then did you need to see a Dr in the first place? and did the nurse look after you at Buckland? The nurse,s in some case,s are better then a Dr.

There has been rudeness in the NHS for years, the worst I ever encountered was from the awful Mr Rodney Ledward who was eventually struck off.
Vic, I think we all know you are blinkered with your view on hospitals. The worst for me was Gorlestone up in Norfolk where my husband died. I was not informed he was to have a minor procedure one afternoon as a result my three hour bus journey to see him was a waste of time as he was not there. He had not regained consciousness when I had to go to catch my bus home, later that night he died. The nurse was very nice when I went to collect his things but the doctor there was unavailable. I had to wait for my own doctor to explain what had happened.

There is plenty wrong with OUR hospitals and plenty right with OUR hospitals. Some people and systems work well others do not. A blind following of either statement is not likely to convince people who have had the opposite experience

that's right we all go by our own experiences, any assertion that everyone is either perfect or useless does not hold water.
not long ago that east kent hospitals were being praised for being successful.
Vic, you astound me. You cannot disagree with someones own experience or opinion, you can only say it was different for you. we have had some appalling experiences with hospitals and a very very few decent ones. Yes, the public can be rude, and staff should not have to put up with discourtesy. Ditto the general public. And I am annoyed that you state, as if i is fact, that there is "nothing wrong with our hospitals". Grow up.
