Even settling down at sea level now. Will probably be up to 10cm ob higher ground so getting around for the next 24 hours will be a problem for some parts of the District.

Fortunately we have had much rain earlier today so the roads are clear, just the picturesque plastic bins to bear the only signs of recent snowfall.

Roads in Eythorne still not gritted and its a bus route. KCC Highways asleep at the wheel again. Note to experts: it's best to treat hills before you have three inches of snow on them.

Weather forecast just said some parts of Kent may get 1-2 cm. We currently have 10cm lying, drifting to a foot or so in windy places.

I have just had alook outside, cars etc can not get up or down Sanctuary close to get to the big carehome at the other end,so it looks like I will get out there now and get the salt/sand down, before o7oohrs for the day workers, and the going home of the night ones.It is ice out there at this time,so please be very carefull,or better still keep the car at home till the roads are better, that is what I will be doing.

I spent an hour or so yesterday late evening digging vehicles skewed across The Street in Eythorne out and getting them to the top of the hill. One was a police man. Still problems this morning with the odd bus stuck on Church Hill and also in Shepherdswell.

Overnight and into the early morning we have had a light but 'efficient' fall of snow. Efficient, because it has fallen more or less as slush. We are getting flurries of 'fat snow' at the moment, but the whole place is far too water-logged for it to lie.

4-6 inches in Lydden overnight, the A2 was reportedly a problem on the news earlier but #15 Canterbury buses are running both ways at present.
