The football club is also doing well. Over 1,000 gate on Saturday and favourites to win the league.

Has anyone actually seen Councillor Oliver Richardson, the Worshipful Town Mayor of Deal and Sir Les Patterson, the Australian Cultural Attache in the same room?
Asking for a friend.

Yes Deal is a nice place to vist but Dover has more shops at Whitfield then the whole of Deal and that is with out all that are in the town Dover has more then four superstores Dover has lot more going for it then Deal, look at all the parks Dover has
+great Castle and the white cliff,s Dover has Sapphire hoe and lots more, but we go to deal just for a nice day out.

The power of the right journalist visiting is the reason Deal has transformed from a mining and military town into a London reject area.
Dover and Deal both have their good points, having lived and worked in both I prefer Dover simply because I have found the inhabitants more friendly.

I've lived in Whitfield for a number of years now; still searching for the shops that out-number those of Deal...

Sorry sir do not know what you mean, where are the shops they are in the same place as Tesco about 60 outlets there may be more. For all living up there I think you could get 8o% of your shopping up there.

Wow! 80% of my shopping is books. Now I can give up my trips to Foyles and Blackwells and just skip up the hill.
Thanks VM.

Well, this is a bit worrying, especially since I drive - I just haven't spotted 60-odd shops (or even outlets) around Tesco!

I guess it all depends on what you want to buy…… you’d struggle to find decent furniture, clothing, shoes, books up at Whitfield.
I’ve lived in this area from my twenties- being employed in area having moved from the north east to attend University. Sadly I’ve never grown much attachment to Dover perhaps that comes from not having any family locally. Still have affection for Canterbury from University days.

I often wonder if the council offices in Whitfield are full of people scratching their heads after spending millions on 'Dover projects' only to read about the delights of Deal in the news. Whenever I visit the town I often see famous faces. Vic Reeves, Chris Packham, Noel Fielding, Emilia Clarke to name a few, so although journalism has probably helped raise its profile also word of mouth and social media.
