Well I see that Tate n Lyle a great British company has gone the same way as Cadburys and been flogged off to the Yanks for a reported £211 million in cash.In an attempt to reduce their debts.
I remember having to visit their Silvertown refinenary to clear the seaman who were bringing in the raw sugar cane. There was no way you could go through the area without being covered in sugar dust. It didn't half attract the bees in summer...

"Here`s the answer with a smile, says Mr Cube of Tate & Lyle". That was on a slide rule we had at primary school in the early 60s, whereby you could slide it to show a sum in one box, whilst the answer would be showing in another box below. Anyone remember them?
Tell them that I came, and no one answered.

And his decendent is with us today Howard.

Even more amazing was their company band, the well known Gallagher and Lyle. I think Tate was elbowed out for not being musically inclined.

Maybe not musical but wasn't Tate in some way connected to the Tate Gallery?

Yes, Henry Tate one of the great Victorian philanthropists.
Many of his other donations to Universities were anonymous and he turned down a Knighthood more than once.
It's a dreadful thing to think but his foundation has left a legacy which lasts through generations whereas Bono/Gates and others will leave us nothing but an even more overpopulated planet.
