...performed at the bandstand in Deal on Sunday.
I was there with Paula, the place was packed and what a great afternoon it was.
Their first number (after the National Anthem) was the new 'Wooton Basset March' that was debued only 2 weeks ago and they ended with all the old favourites, including Hearts of Oak, Rule Britannia and Land of Hope and Glory.
Sue was there laying a wreath in one of her big hats. Charlie was there also.
They will be back again next year keeping alive, in this way, links between the Royal Marines and Deal.
Then today the hardworking band are in Basle performing at a Tatoo.
I noticed one or two Afghanistan medals among the bandsmen, the bandsmen are not just for show.

I thought I saw you Barry .Yes a great afternoon .That Wooton Basset March brought me close to tears .I liked the rendering of "It had to be you" .
I did get a chap come up to me and offered me a dance .Hows that .
Difficult day for wearing a hat .Still you know me and protocol

Hi Barry, hi Sue.
What a fantastic afternoon it was on Walmer Green, wasn't it? Great weather, huge crowd, fabulous musicianship from the Marines as ever and altogether a very moving event.
