12:4033452Barry for you that was a very good one well done about time we saw the lighter side of you. But that is a very true story of the Buffs and was said when they were holding a line in battle with the other forces were out numbering the Buffs by about four to one and they came at the Buffs line and the C.O. of the Buffs called out "STeady the Buffs"and they did and won the day.

15:1033685I have just been on the phone and have just been told I am now going into the records book as the last of the Buffs Regiment,I was only 16yrs old when I join them and now to be told I am the youngest of them all that are left. The Buffs was the first foot Regiment of the U.K. and to be the last of them makes me feel very humble indeed.

20:0933696Nice one Vic.
Could you clarify one small point though.
If you are the youngest of them all that are left how can that make you the last one of them?
Sorry mate just a little confused.
As an afterthought Vic, have you looked at the Buff's web site?
They have a forum a bit like ours.

00:0333906Sorry to disagree Vic (Your post 8) But the Buffs were not 1st regiment a Foot as The Royal Scots (The Royal Regiment), once known as the Royal Regiment of Foot, was the oldest, and therefore most senior, infantry regiment of the line in the British Army having been raised in 1633 during the reign of Charles 1st of Scotland.
The Buffs, formerly the 3rd Regiment of Foot was an infantry regiment of the British Army until 1961.
So Vic " Steady the Buffs" but get back in line mate.

23:3633965Harry I was waiting for some one to take me up on this one,it is geting late now so will post again on it at the weekend ,just to tell you that you are right to say the Royal Scots were 1st a foot, but the Buffs is a much older Regiment. by about 60yrs
This disagreement has been going on for over 300yrs the Buffs Regiment was founed in Denmark not in the U.K. to look after their royal family that is why the king of Denmark was their Col/in /Chief,but it was a U.K. regiment but because it was not founded in the U.K. they were made 2nd a foot.but take in from me the the buffs were the most senior foot regiment and as a old buff like the rest we say we were the 1st a foot.
So there you have it mate, but thank you for your post on it.It has been and still is a much talked about at the reunion dinners.
