It's probably gone dead Ian because there doesn't seem much we can do or much the EA will do.
There seems to be a lot of rubbish by Morrisons, but I haven't walked passed it recently, only driven.
Perhaps when we start to rebuild either the DTIZ (without ASDA) or the mid-town area, someone will think (?) that we should be more proud of the river and keep it looking good.
But then again maybe not.

There is a lot of rubbish by Morrisons, more in evidence than ever since the weeds have died back. Increased seasonal water flow may not be helping much either.

Good photo Phil, shame about the rubbish and weeds. Didn't someone say that Morrisons were going to be pro-active about litter in the river ?

Just to show that its not all doom and gloom with the Dour..here it is complete with glorious heron just three days ago. This is in Pencester Gardens just as spring is beginning to rear its magnificent head. Crocuses can also be seen on the little island there and the river was flowing well.

Nice photo Paul.
The first WCCP Dour clean is scheduled for Tues 27th April and should carry on monthly until October. It'd be good to see some faces from this forum there this year!

Very nice picture Paul, and wish it was mine. I didn`t realise how good the Dour could look, from how I`m used to seeing it. I rarely walk through Penceter, as whenever I have, the seat`s along the river have been occupied by, well you know. I`d be interested to know, if you had some waders on, whether you`d be permitted to walk up the river as far as possible, or whether you`d be trespassing in places or if there`s any obstruction`s preventing you from doing so?

great pic from paul but he chose the most photogenic part of pencester gardens.
just around the bend is the bridge, the bank is full of empty cans, many of which held high energy drinks.
pity they did not give the imbiber the energy to walk to a bin.

Nothing to stop you doing that at all Colin, there are some obstacles and some deep water also some trespass areas and the time of the year you wish to do so could be dodgy, I would say send me an e-mail but I can't send or receive at the mo.
If you would like to know more I'll give you my phone number.

Where the Dour empties into the Wellington dock, this net I assume is to catch rubbish coming down the river, which those steel railings the other side have failed to catch. Note that it`s mostly plastic bottle`s, and those takeaway carton`s, quite a number of them. Mr and Mrs Duck appear to be nesting on it.
