The post you are reporting:
Following one of my postings on this forum some interest was raised in the fact that, shock - horror, I write poetry. As I have been doing this for over forty years now I thought I might explain it a little. During the 1960's the youth sub culture had an artistic pretention and more of a reverence towards poetry than todays lot. Stemming from this, and because it was easier than starving myself to look like the stick insects that were as trendy then as now, I began to write poetry. The ensuing works were an expression of my inner feelings, observations of the world around us and, the important point here, writing poetry was a good way of picking up hippy girls.
Over the years it becomes a good way of getting ideas down and also a way of getting things off your chest. An early example of this was an expression of frustration with an axquaintance who never seemed to have an original thought.
Opus Two
Chuck it away,
Well away
from me.
Bring to me,
Right here
the remains.
I want life,
Just life
in this never ending
sea of stagnation.
Let me see it
before it goes,
Let me see
your imagination.
Another area that poetry can be good in is describing someone who, while being obviously attractive, also has a beautiful personality.
Bam's Poem
Vampire smile flashing,
Eyes of neon stars
in a face lost in thought.
Smiling into the wind,
losing yourself
in the dream of existance.
With a crash
the sun lands
in your garden;
The sky surrounds you
and the night arrives
on a breeze of hope,
and the morning is there
around the corner
in your mirror.
Since then I have written poetry on all sorts of subjects and in all sorts of styles, I have even been known to dabble in haiku.
The world heads for war.
Peace is a dream of mankind.
A young child just grins.
(and that one was written a few years ago)
Having now exposed my grubby little secret, how many others out there have such little habits that they keep hidden away from public scrutiny?
(Let's see what Dubris makes of that)
