OK Bern, this is just for you so don't go letting everyone know.
Get a nice oven dish and put in layers of sliced potato liberally sprinkled with plain flower and some diced ham (or chopped up sliced sandwiich ham or chopped cooked bacon). When the dish is full pour in milk to cover and then stick in a 200 degree oven for about 45 minutes or until the potatoes are soft. Once again you can add some grated cheese to the top and if you want to speed up the cooking you can par boil the potatoes first (this does of course mean more washing up). You end up with a very creamy potato dish that you can serve on its own or as part of a meal and my kids love it.
