21:0589143i must agree with your lengthy post alex, i think the germans have got this right, most favoured nation terms for turkey is an excellent option.
one minor criticism, paulb referred to blue peers and their drive to invite turkey into the e.u.
from how i read it the move from the blue side of the coalition is for closer ties with the european union, this was confirmed by the vote in the commons the other day.

00:0789148In fact yes, I will re-address that statement of mine as referring to the blue peers.
I wonder if the blue peers actually know the realities I pointed out, about population increase in Turkey and about Germany! And if they realise that any decisions they make in Parliament (Upper House), could effect other countries that are bound by EU membership.
Actually, this opens a new school of thought: any government (or house of Parliament) of an EU member state making decisions could be significantly affecting the destiny of other countries members of the EU.

01:0089152I think there is enough islamophobia and xenophobia in the EU to keep Turkey out for a generation or more, by which time the Great European Experiment will be dead and gone.

08:4289157Turkey has a foothold in both Europe and Asia so they enjoy the best and worst of both continents..might as well let the Magreb countries join the EU as well.
