Andy, I voted "No" way back in Teath's time. I have since changed my mind and I see no reason for constantly banging on about something that isn';t going to happen.
the Tiories don't want, Labour don't want it, LibDems don't want it, UKIP does want it. Hmm, how many votes at the last GE did UKIP gain? Not enough I susepct to make any difference to the thinking of the major parties.
Sensible option, focus energies on making what we've got better. UKIP would do more for Britain if they stormed the EU elections and got a good number of seats in the EU Parliament. I think that would be aprogeressive stance that has a chance for success.
Sid, I don`t really follow your logic there. You imply that nobody wants a referendum apart from UKIP, but when the subject is actually brought to the fore then the people of this country DO want it. If this was not the case then how do you explain the results of the European elections last June when UKIP received more votes than Labour and the Lib-dems?
Furthermore, that result was achieved despite the "EU Question" being played down as much as possible by the other parties and UKIP getting their usual scant media coverage.
The answer really is quite simple, just give once and for all the British public a chance to voice their opinion in a referendum. If, as you reckon, people would vote to stay in then fair enough. UKIP as such would probably no longer exist and we could all concentrate on making the EU " better for all " which I presume you would be really pleased about?
Finally, you know only too well that UKIP`s poor showing in the General Election was primarily down to the fact that a lot of our votes went to the Conservatives by people who were not prepared to take a chance on letting Brown back in for a further term. As usual, the EU was barely mentioned, we had the X-Factor show on TV which excluded UKIP and the "economy" was pushed as the major issue.

the european issue will never be a factor in general elections, though that does not mean people do not have strong views on the subject.
mind you reading up on some stuff recently we may not need a referendum, the euro is about to go into meltdown, no doubt the monolith will follow.

Howard, I have been forbidden to do e.u. bashing, so presently prefer concentrating on Dover issues. However, if there will be a melt-down of the euro, and the monolith follows, it could also be an uncontrolled melt-down of the monolith, such as enraged mothers brandishing saucepans in the street at Mrs. Merkel, after their cheap vegetables burnt again!

I think the blues have been reading the UKIP Manifesto which is called Straight talking and after reading it they are acting on what is in it.

could be in trouble there vic, "straight" talking, could offend the gay community.
kindly report to the thought control workshop for retraining.
Quite right Howard. It may also cause offence to members of AA who only think they walk straight!

Vic, in fact the majority of Dovorians cannot be wrong for saying: no! to the Port-sale, but I am wondering how some people are going to try to sell the Port anyway!
At the end of the day, it will be a question of whether they listen to the will of the People or just go and do what they want!
