On holiday in Blackpool in the 90s with the wife and kids, the 2 of us went to see Cannon and Ball, who the wife liked on tv, and I didn`t, but I took her to the live show anyway. Acts are sometimes better when you`re actually there. I spent the whole performance watching the woman in front of me going hysterical with laughter, the reason being, she was keeping me awake, and she was much more entertaining. The pair reminded me of the old chestnut about Mike and Bernie Winter`s going for their audition, when someone said; You mean there`s two of them?????????

Jacqui
Cor nearly forgot Jasper, saw him live in Chatham, what a great comedian.
Michael barrymore very good live,
Freddie Starr great live, saw him at leas twice but he rarely changes his act

I`m still suffering stress from that night Howard, 19 years ago. I suppose if I put my mind to it, there`s probably some ridiculous law in place that would enable me to sue them for it. As for Little and Large, I think mentioning Cannon and Ball is enough for one night.

I think one of the funniest radio comics was Kenneth Horne. I well remember his programmes from the 50's and 60's, Beyond Our Ken and later Round the Horne. He was quite saucy for the time

and well supported by Kenneth Williams, Hugh Paddick and Betty Marsden. I can hear those names now being rhymed off at the end of each programme.
Love those shows - I have them on CD now, and they are often on BBC Radio 7. Along with Tony Hancock, the Clitheroe Kid and others. Fab.

Lee Evans - Rubbish
Lee Mack - Brilliant!
Not Going Out Series 3 - 12th March
Terry
Quis custodiet ipsos custodes?
Round the Horne - superb
Lee Evans - Hilarious
Lee Mack - Smug and unfunny
All a question of taste I guess.

"round the horne" was ahead of its time, wonderful character inventions, with the star standing out with his urbane style.

I have one Round the Horne cd, and now, as then, it always seemed like there was a party going on. I have a number of Hancock`s Half Hour cds, (and LPs). Although a few were adapted for tv, they always sound better on radio. The odd line fluffing is great, as I think they always went out live?
