  The smoking Ban, Fox Hunting etc. and the increase in the Nanny State has only come in the last 12/13 years Brian.
  
  Don't forget the Conservatives want small government, "big" people - localism, where the decisons are made closer to home.
  
  So you agree Brian, the referendum is not now needed ?
  
  Did you think there never should have been one on the Constitution or Treaty Brian ? that the British people were not bright enough to know what they wanted ? or, more to the point, they would vote a different way to the one the Labour Government wanted ?
  
  The Tories always said they would have a referendum if the treaty wasn't ratified; it is now, so it's a different ball-game and the question(s) would be different now.
