From what was said at the meeting, nothing seems to have changed with regard to upgrading the M2/A2. The highway authorities have long said that the M20/A20 is the preferred route to Dover and that the M2/A2 option is discouraged because the M2 is already nearing capacity at the Thames Gateway. Mr Krayenbrink, director of port development, restated this.

The hauliers prefer the M20 and most of the traffic exiting the docks heads that way. The dock exit road was built for just that reason, eliminating the bottleneck at the Eastern Docks roundabout.

It is not clear to me where Pat gets the figures "when both T2 and T1 are fully operational some 35% volume will be T2 and 65% T1." Perhaps you could clarify? With P&O expected to occupy T2, and presently carrying roughly half the ports traffic and with two new 49,000 ton ferries due to enter service, I was anticipating that traffic via T2 would be expected to equal or exceed that through T1.
