12:2613996Yes Gary as I understand it they are more or less immune from punishment, other than a mild naming and shaming, as the House of Lords was considered to be above the need for any rules and regulations to deal with such lowlife shenanigans. There are a very lose set of rules in place and now Lady Royall is calling for a new set of rules for the modern age. These guys even if guilty can carry on as normal without any loss of position.
If it becomes a police matter and something majorly illegal was done then that might be a different story, but the latest news suggests the Police are unlikely to get involved having recently had their fingers burned following an excursion into the hallowed ground of The Palace of Westminster.

10:5414095On Iain Dale's blog he quotes a friend of his on an encounter he had with one of the four 'noble lords'...
""""I met (Lord) Truscott in April, 1989 when I was canvassing for the Conservative Party in Colchester. I was on my own walking up a long road of Council houses when I passed three Labour canvassers walking the other way. I said "hello" to them. Truscott's reply consisted of four words, "f... o.., you c..."""""
That kind of thing is unnecessary regardless of Party. Usually opposing canvassers meeting each other in the street tend to be deliberately and purposefully polite. Says a lot about this particular individual.

this is a forum, i like forums becausethey consist of people giving their own thoughts and experiences.
someone once recommended a site, wikipedia or something similar.
it claims to be the font of wisdom, turned out to be full of disinformation that any idiot with time on their hands could post on.

22:2814197The political blogs are just what you refer to howard, real people giving opinions, they are not all professional journos.

17:2814556Interestingly,I was talking to Lord Berkeley on Friday evening. We knew him locally as Tony Gueterbock when he was with EuroTunnel during its construction. Innocently I asked about the Peers scandal. He chatted away about working within the rules etc. Was I surprised to see him added to the list of those further identified in yesterdays papers. Not straightforward this. Now Lord Boyce has been mentioned. A pity because he is good news for the serving forces personnel, he says the unpalatable from first hand knowledge.

19:0614571once corruption sets in it spreads like a cancer.
i don't think that anyone had an inkling that the lords had such a deep rooted problem.
i have been told that there are more to come, they are spreading things out in order to sell more newspapers
2 February 2009
21:1614586At a time when the country needs confidence and motivation, we need to ask why the papers have chosen now to sling mud about. If it's coming out now they will have known about it for some time, that's the nature of the beast.

21:4814588this investigation has been going on for ages, stories will continue to emanate from "the times" as and when there is a quiet news day.
the press know that the people at the top are not concerned about "confidence and motivation", they are far removed from the everyday concerns of our citizens(i watched mandie and ossie today on the news), completely out of touch with reality.
the only people in our fair land exempt from the fear of job loss are MP's , government ministers, shadow ministers and house of lords peers.

23:1714594they will be replaced by others, unlike the real people that live in our country that are losing their jobs by the day.
the mp's that get outed, take a check on their severance deals and pensions.

11:4514615Certain members of The Lords appear to have found ways of earning a crust.
Politics, it seems to me, for years, or all too long, has been concerned with right or left instead of right or wrong.
