I noticed this morning that diggers have started on the field bordering the A2 and the A256.
Found a six year old map of the plans, is this still the plan?

Which will be finished first, the road junction or the railway line at Shakespeare Beach?

I noticed the sign up alongside the A2 just before the A256 turn-off. Clearly trying to sell off-plan to generate some cash-flow.

Will these new developments will be required to take advantage of maximise of technologies such as geothermal heating, solar panels and rain water harvesting?
Personally I'd also like to see all new houses built with cellars and a usable loft space to maximise living space and minimise footprint.

These are not meant for first time buyers but for professionals with spending power. There are plenty of lower priced houses in our district. The social houses cover our hillsides and reasonable priced houses can be found in Tower Hamlets ,dare I say Clarendon.
There are many flats housing Association flats. These higher priced houses pay high Council taxes so can only improve the District as.A whole.

If you have spending power you are more likely to buy a pad in Whitstable or Deal and if you are professional you are going to want quick easy links to the city, gatwick etc. I can't really see Whitfield competing with Shepway Garden City, Ebbsfleet Garden City or Manston with their excellent links. Kent will be saturated with these 'professional' builds very soon whilst the affordable homes crisis will escalate.

I don't agree Jack both my sons are professional engineers and travel to Dartford every day They fly all over the world for business but are both based here in River with very nice homes. My Daughter was staying with me last week she worked in Margate a couple of days then travelled to London on the High Speed train to work in London.
They all love this part of the world .

My lawyer grandson and his biochemist wife, so both professionals, would love to buy a place in Whitfield but can not afford these prices for their first house buy.
There are not enough reasonably priced houses available on the Whitfield side of Dover which is the area they want to live because of journeys to work and their daughter's schooling. There are also the awful car parking issues on the other side of town.

I try to be neutral and polite but it is hard and getting even more difficult at times.

Not only spoiling our Countryside with buildings ,this remark im sorry to say is snobbish and discriminating to say the least , are you implying that because you live in River you are better than someone who works their socks off and lives on a hillside or in association homes ?

Typical response post 16 .Yes I do live in River in a very modest home.My parents lived in a council house as did my in laws. When we lived in a small cottage we had an outside toilet and had to walk a quarter of a mile to obtain buckets of drinking water. When in 1987 my parent were allocated a council house they were in their seventies and were overjoyed.I too have worked hard and if you did more research Suzy you would know I'm not a snob .Im stating the facts .For some reason most of the council stock is on the hillsides of Dover.
I was the portfolio holder for housing for six years and prior to that I shadowed that role. I learnt a lot about housing both private and public. I spent a year on be regional housing board which covered various areas of the south east .On planning for ten years so do understand housing.
So please think before you hit the keyboard.
