I am looking at having a wood burning stove fitted and wondered if anyone could recommend someone. I know that B&H Fireplaces has closed but does anyone have a number for them as I understand they are still trading.
Many thanks

might be worth taking a look in the charlton centre, saw an aga oven there today(not wood burning) but they seem to have new(old) stuff coming in every day and they have another outlet in west langdon if my memory serves me correct.

I have, in the past, wondered to what extent the truely marvellous idea of the 'back-boiler' led to the hatred of coal. The idea that most of the heat should not go straight up the chimney must have irked some.
Ignorance is bliss, bliss is happiness, I am happy...to draw your attention to the possible connectivity in the foregoing.

I want one to try and save on the cost of gas. Its funny years ago we all had them and couldnt wait to get rid of open fires, parkrays etc for central heating. Now due to money grabbing energy companies we are all reinstating them. Shows how everything goes round in circles.

Don't do it unless your fit, and you can get wood cheep
The average load is around £65 and you will need around 6 or 7 a year
And big dry storage.

I have a wood burner, very efficient, gets too hot at times! Sometimes the 'romance' of the cosy hearthside can mask the reality of the work these things generate. The drawbacks are the dust it generates when removing the ashes, storing the wood in a dry place, chopping sticks and accumalating old newspapers. Make sure you have your chimney swept every year before lighting the fire and have a good size hearth to prevent hot sparks ruining your floors/carpets! Roll on winter!!!!
