From today's Torygraph:
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/science/science-news/9339423/Men-who-drink-7-cups-of-tea-are-50-per-cent-more-likely-to-develop-prostate-cancer.html
Add this to a long list which includes climate change, passive smoking, recommended alcohol consumption, the myth of rising damp, cholesterol, the effect of sun on skin and other myths which get so many people worked up into a lather.
I'm just putting the kettle on for my third of the day.

Help save the planet Philip...use a flask. That way you only need boil the kettle once for your whole day's supply.

I wonder if they considered that people who sit around drinking lots of tea are doing just that. Sitting around ! instead of being up and about getting excercise. It's the same with drinking alcohol. If you have a glass in your hand you can't do much else.

tony benn consumed 40 pints of tea a day when he was in the commons, still going strong into old age.
i wondered when someone would decide tea was bad for us, not much left to choose from.

the ladies in the commons canteen had a special mug set aside for him, an expert concluded that it was a very mild caffeine addiction.
i always thought that the tannin in tea was bad for the joints if it was drunk in vast excess.

Roi Bos (Red Bush) tea is supposed to be good for you - no tannin and no caffeine either.

i knew someone that was here from south africa back in the late 90's who used to swear by roi bos.
she reckoned it was the cure for a bad stomach, headache, insomnia, hypertension and all sorts as well as being a nice drink.
incidentally just downing a half pint mug of the one the monkeys used to drink.

When I first tried Red-Bush I could not get used to it, but lately I have quite liked it, so it may be an acquired taste! Like blue cheese or mussels (had a large helping of steamed mussels today, lovely!!)

One of my favourite foods so no chance of me reaching 100.
If we were to blindly follow every food scare various scientists or food know-it-all came up with we would all starve.

Used to have a neighbour that lived on microwave meals 8-10 cans of super strong lager, sometimes plus a few large whiskys, kebabs, and probably smoked at least 60 fags a day, weekly punch-ups in his younger days, got banned from almost every pub in town, lived till he was 88,never visited a doctor.A great character he was, some can manage a lifestyle like that just fine.
