"To the emergency services who, as always, run towards the screams, the Police, the Paramedics, the members of the Fire service. The many taxi drivers who ferried home distraught youngsters and families through the night. The people who opened their homes to offer refuge to those who couldn't get home. The passers by and venue workers who did all they could to help the injured. I have nothing other than praise and admiration.
To those who lost friends. To those who lost the most beloved members of their family, their children. I have no words, nothing I can say other than everyone with a heart who woke this morning to the news and looked at their loved ones, their children and saw how easily it could be them shares, even if only a little, in their pain.
To anyone who would choose to use this horror to their own ends, to further their own agenda, whatever that may be. I would say tread carefully as you lay your words on the bodies of our friends and children.
To those that committed this atrocity, this most foul and disgusting crime may you find no safe place to hide or rest, no place of escape or refuge, may no man or woman to take your hand in friendship, may you see the faces of those you had a hand in murdering everytime you close your eyes. May your theft of these young lives hang upon you like chains and leave you in torment until the day you die."

I have been far to angry to even discuss this subject today.
I'm fed up with Chief Constables who have a Tourette like compulsion to say 'community' as every second word.
I'm fed up with so-called celebrities virtue-signalling and egocentric do gooders (why do do gooders never actually do any good?) lighting tea-lights and adding the latest 'ribbon' to their photos.
I'm fed up with all the idiots 'phoning radio stations with their insightful analysis of the problems called by a tiny tiny tiny minority of the followers of the so-called Religion of Peace.
I'm fed up with politicians having the temerity to tell us that random massacre of the innocents is the new normal and we'll just have to get used to it.
I'm fed up with lefty apologists telling me it's all my fault and due to 'illegal wars' and we 'had it coming' who have a selective memory when dealing with what little history they claim to know.
I'm fed up with holding a piece of paper sayin 'I am Charlie' or Paris or Orlando or Brussels or Munich or Westminster or Manchester and thanking Christ that 'this time' it wasn't somewhere where one of my loved ones was.
Don't worry. I'll be back to normal tomorrow and so will you. Until the next time.
The current Threat level from the Security Services only remains at SEVERE. An attack is still highly likely, exactly the same as this time yesterday evening. Sleep well.

Harun KHAN
SECRETARY-GENERAL OF THE MUSLIM COUNCIL OF BRITAIN
The attack on the Manchester Arena last night was callous, horrific and barbarous. That the perpetrator or perpetrators targeted an event attended by children and young people only underscores the savagery of this incident.
As a parent I look on with horror, and shudder at the thought of those parents grieving today or on the bedside of their injured children. It was brought home to me by a colleague and friend in the Manchester Muslim community whose children had attended the concert but were thankfully not hurt.
As a Muslim I wonder what possessed the attacker to carry out his deed. I pray that such people face the full weight of justice in this life and the next. Their actions are in defiance of the many pronouncements of our beloved Prophet Muhammad, of the Quranic edict to "save life", and of over a millennia of Islamic scholarship.
While such violence has no basis in the Islamic faith, these thugs still use Islam to justify their actions. For them, the condemnation of their cause by governments, scholars, communities and faith leaders has no bearing on their actions.
If anything, it emboldens them further, adding mystique to their so called renegade cause. While we should be treating these people as down right criminals, thugs who get high from chaos, we instead give them the oxygen of publicity, badge them with the label of terrorist, and allow more gullible souls to be seduced by their dead-end aims.
Invariably every attack is followed by calls on Muslims to do more to root these people out. Many thousands do although this is not always easy: the people who commit these atrocities operate on the sidelines – their actions a mystery to even their own parents. But as Chris Phillips, the former head of the National Counter Terrorism Security Office, said on the radio today: some people will always slip through.
So what are we to do? Clearly there needs to be renewed action. If there is anything we Muslims can do to combat this we should proactively look into it. That means Muslim communities, other faith communities and government inclusively working together.
Above all though we must not allow these murderers and thugs to succeed by furthering mistrust and division. Instead we must promote our far superior, positive narrative.
That narrative was in full display last night when ordinary Mancunians of all faiths got stuck in to help our valiant emergency services. It was there in the stories of Muslim doctors volunteering their help; it was there in the free rides offered by Sikh taxi drivers; it was there in the stories of rabbis providing tea and refreshment to police men and women in the aftermath of the attack.

Mockery: Ludicrously futile action. So yes Keith I mock.
The circumstances you refer to I guess are that this most recent atrocity is a little closer to home than the countless other senseless acts commited on a near daily basis that aren't being given the same mark of respect, see virtue signalling, see ego.

it's the let them all in politicians that are to blame .and that's all parties .
the kids are dead because back in the 1960s 70s politicians let people in from very different country's that wouled never integrate into western cultures .
we now see the same clown politicians holding hands and lighting candles and talking about community integration .
remember conservatives let thousands in from the country's.
jezza was calling for all the scum from the french jungle to be let in , and there 30-year-old children
Farron is calling for 10,000 Arabs a year to be let in from the camps ,,(but not up his street)

I read some stupid comments on this and other places but the above must rank near the top. Using Keith's logic the Jews and Hungarians and West Indians from previous years have never integrated either when we all know they have. The vast majority of Asians have also settled in well although some areas are a little behind others but they will integrate well in the end.
This latest bomber was born here from Liberian refugee parents. There will always be evil or mentally ill people who go out with the intention to kill regardless of their origin.

The vast majority of those from 'Asia' have indeed. There is however a specific problem with the Bangladeshi and Pakistani 'community' who are carrying on their peasant ways and tribal affiliations and NOT integrating into the mainstream community.
This has affected everything from electoral corruption in Tower Hamlets to birth defects/deaths due to their propensity to marry off their western educated daughters to their 'cousin-brother' from where they still consider 'home'.

Such are the joys of multi-culturalism (or apartheid as we used to call it)

First hand experience of all the above in Redbridge, much the same birth defects among orthodox Jews too for the same reasons. Trying to fathom why this is on the Politics page.

I think it all started with Keef vowing not to post during daylight hours during Ramadan or something?

I was waiting to see which politician would be thick enough to demand the return of the death penalty to deter suicide bombers and no surprise who wins.
