"lesbo"
What has "lesbo" got to do with how she does the job, a touch of homophobia there I believe.

Believe what you want Jan, but it was probably one of the credentials that helped her get the job in the first place, as in ticking all the right boxes and proving that the police are pro diversity etc., in their selection process, much the same as the fire brigade, or whatever they call themselves these days.
Shame though that you preferred to comment on that rather than the main gist of my post.

As I've said before, I was at a conference with Cressida Dick a couple of years ago and was, and still am impressed by her.
Public order policing is a difficult gig. Interesting that a small group around Downing Street were 'kettled' until the early hours and only released after interview? It's a long game and information from various sources is building up.
Whitehall probably has more high definition CCTV, both overt and covert than anywhere else in London, all linked in to various databases.
Cressida being a 'rug muncher' is neither here note there.

I only comment when I have an opinion about something, I could not care less about her sexual preferences and have no idea why she was appointed but maybe you have 'inside' information.

And they are off to the American Embassy this afternoon!
No riff raff (or long check in) when I was last there.

And the only direct access from the main road involves crossing a water filled moat! Looking forward to the great unwashed trying that ...

Still impressed by “Dick” Capt.,?
Surprised she didn’t equip her PC force with white flags to wave and lollipops to hand out which may just have quietened the baying mob? What a total and utter embarrassment and laughing stock our so called police force must be around the world.
My last post by the way, cherrio!

Thanks Reg, going nowhere nice I’m afraid, just time, pressure and stress really. Just lost my old mum after caring for her at home until she died and then our new baby arrived. Haven’t slept properly for at least six months now and it’s catching up on me I think.
Time to chill out and not get worked up by news events that none of us unfortunately have any control over.
Good luck to all in the future!

Dear old Niggle Farridge making the classic error there of demonstrating he doesn't understand what Anarchy actually is...you would have thought as a politico of German descent he would have read his Immanuel Kant.

'This BLM movement is a dangerous marxist organisation hellbent on anarchy and we need to wake up, get some facts in our heads...'
Well, I doubt I'd go to Mr Farage for a lesson in political theory if he doesn't even know the difference between those two fundamentally different traditions.
But, RM, I'm curious about Kant. Rationalist: yes. Moralist: yes. But anarchist? I don't remember that from my studies in German Idealism. In fact, I'd venture to say that Kant was categorically (sorry, philosophical in joke) not one. Happy to be put right though.

Notice how he sprung off his chair when the accusation was made that he was struggling "to be relevant". That is of course what it is all about for him.

Why do the media keep resurrecting him from the obscurity he now deserves, could it be he makes any subject into an argument so good TV.

WGS indeed Kant wasn't an anarchist, but he certainly wrote about it in his treatise "Anthropology from a Pragmatic Point of View" - he argues that anarchy (Law & freedom without Force) cannot be a "true civil state" as law is only an empty recommendation without force to make it efficacious.

Unless he forgot the agreement of the people when "force" will not be needed, but I guess having said that there is always going to be some bloody-minded awkward person who would be against.

Force in this sense means both the ability to be enforced and the fear of it being enforced as the means to ensure adherence
