No extra money as it will be taken away from the Academies but hopefully this will mean that other schools will not have to drop subjects.

Increased pupil populations far outstrips funding "increasings".

Our government for the last twenty years have managed to make a hash of things, I doubt things will change for quite a while whoever is in power.

Serious question. Is there any 'problem' brought up on the forum which can't be solved by even more spending of money which we do not have?
As for increased school population I wonder where that's all coming from? Possibly something to do with the extra third of a million people a year we have been been 'inviting' into our country over the past few decades to sell each other coffee and boost the all important GDP?
One only has to look at Dover district, which has a low immigrant population, and where in 2014-15 roughly 400 people died and 200 were born, to see where the pressure on our services, schools, housing, health etc are really coming from.

I'm not sure if Bob F is contributing the influx of immigrants to the nations problems or what?

Yes. Large scale post war immigration has contributed hugely to the nation's problems.

We know that people of Pakistan/Bangla Desh ethnicity have many more children than the rest of the population.
In our area we don't have that sort of problem so why are Head Teachers from our local schools sending out begging letters to parents in the hope that they will cough up dosh in order to keep lessons and extra curricular activities going?

Perhaps if they concentrated on turning out students who are functionally literate and numerate rather than faffing around on extra curricular activities they might find budgetting easier?

bob, correct me if a am wrong, you say 400 people die and 200 born that's 200 less being born than dieing ,so a deficit of 200.if this carrys on britan will be empty soon.

Surprised you have no problem with subjects being dropped Bob, even more surprised that you view after school activities in such a negative way. Music, Art, Drama etc make pupils more rounded unless you prefer to see a bunch of dullards with certificates making their way in the world. Team sports such as Football/Netball/Cricket/Rugby make children realise that working together with other children they would not normally get along with is ideal preparation for the work place.

All work and no play makes Bob a dull boy.

I suggest people just look at the GCSE results for Dover district.
Coastal communities with white working class children have even fallen behind results for West Indians according to national figures!
At many local schools the majority can't pass maths and english at a grade which makes them remotely employable in 2017 in any job more complicated than following simple instructions to lift stuff and put it somewhere else.

English requires a capital letter.

My message to ALL governments (whichever denomination): Don't fixate on the PISA rankings - they seriously don't compare apples with apples. Don't chase a knowledge based pub-quiz curriculum, instead focus on key skills and making them adaptable/resilient. Crucially, listen to employers, they will tell you that they want human beings, they like personalities, they welcome abilities outside of the core subjects (such as music, art, drama etc) - they don't want robots.

So Manwoods send the kiddies home early on Friday and the staff remain behind for staff meetings? Why aren't these held after or before school as they used to be?

Interesting article here from the Economist. Just look at the table! There's kids from SOME immigrant groups, with English as a second language, running academic circles round whitey.
