Will Flashman or Boris turn to their natural partner UKIP ?
Lib Dem Conference: Coalition Government could come to early end before 2015 general election,
says Vince Cable
Business Secretary claims he could walk out of the Government if his colleagues allowed the
Conservatives to pursue policies that crossed his personal 'red lines'
Vince Cable last night became the first senior Liberal Democrat to raise the prospect of the Coalition
Government coming apart before the next general election in 2015.
In controversial comments, at the Independent fringe meeting, the Business Secretary put himself
at odds with Nick Clegg by saying it was "certainly possible" for the power-sharing deal to come to
an early end.
The Liberal Democrat leader has always made clear, both publicly and privately, that he wants the
Coalition to continue "right up to the wire".
But Mr Cable said of an early split: "It's certainly possible. We are not at the stage of talking about
that process. It is obviously a very sensitive one. It has got to be led by the leader. We have not
yet had those conversations."

Danny puts his hat in the ring!!!!!!!!!!!!
Danny Alexander says 'nutty' Conservatives must be kept in check as he slaps down Vince Cable
The Liberal Democrats have to be in government to keep "nutty" Conservatives in check, Danny
Alexander has said.
Mr Alexander also denied that the Lib Dems are planning to raise taxes for those earning more than
£50,000 a year.
Mr Alexander, the Chief Secretary to the Treasury, said that politics would be "dragged off to the right" if the
Conservatives win a majority at the next election.
He said that the UK "needs" the Lib Dems to keep the government "in the right place".
"I think that for a lot of people in this country who want politics to be located in the centre ground -
not dragged off to the left by trade unions or dragged off to the right by some of the more nutty
backbenchers in the Conservative party - you need the Liberal Democrats in the mix to keep our
government in the right place," Mr Alexander told BBC News.
Mr Alexander also slapped down Vince Cable, the Business Secretary, who this week warned that
the Coalition could break apart before the 2015 election.
Mr Cable on Monday said that it was "certainly possible" that the Coalition could end before polling
day in 2015.

Just a non political observation. Mr Clegg's 'offer' to form a coalition Government with whoever wins the next General Election, just goes to show he has a sense of humour!
Do nothing and nothing happens.

Having magnet-fished a heap of conservative Conservative cast-offs and conservative Labour discards from the other parties' polluted political canals, and disavowed the 2016 popular vote, the Liberal Democrats will today be discussing a motion to drop the inconvenient and no longer accurately descriptive 'Liberal' and 'Democrats' bits from their name. Possible new names include 'The Real Conservative Party' and 'The Continuity Conservative Party', but for the moment 'The ******* ******* Party' will be used. Yellow will be retained for the party logo, though, as it is regarded as truthfully representing the colour of members' teeth and bellies. Suggestions that it also captured the jaundiced outlook of the electorate were dismissed by the leadership.

They definitely need to remove the Dem side of their name as by choosing to ignore the referendum result they certainly do not believe in democracy.

And by choosing the European (Napoleonic) legal system to be supreme they show that the word ‘liberal’ doesn’t apply either.

I assume that's a reference to 'you're guilty unless you prove yourself innocent' (?). Whilst not common in UK legislation, it does exist and so, for laughs, here's an example from the Customs and Excise Management Act 1979 (which personally, sad git that I am, think is an amusing read):
http://www.legislation.gov.uk/ukpga/1979/2/section/51...
51
Special provisions as to proof in Northern Ireland.
(1)
If goods of any class or description chargeable with duty on their importation by reference to their importation from the Republic of Ireland are found in the possession or control of any person in Northern Ireland, any officer or any person having by law in Northern Ireland the powers of an officer may require that person to furnish proof that the goods have not been imported from the Republic of Ireland or that the duty chargeable on their importation by reference to their importation has been paid.
(2)
If proof of any matter is required to be furnished in relation to any goods under subsection (1) above but is not furnished to the satisfaction of the Commissioners, the goods
shall, for the purposes of proceedings under the customs and excise Acts,
be deemed to have been unlawfully imported from the Republic of Ireland without payment of duty, unless the contrary is proved.
