A judge at Folkestone Court today threw out an application by lawyers acting for the Conservative Party over a time limit for 2015 Election expenses investigations at South Thanet..I understand Kent Police will now also investigate 2015 Dover election.

Nothing would surprise me about Thanet especially as Central Office desperately wanted to retain the seat. Doubt if Dover and Deal conservatives would have been so unprofessional about things as they were odds on favourite with UKIP cutting into the Labour vote.

T he case was heard by Judge Baron today at Folkestone court. The application submitted by the legal team representing the Conservative Party for a time limit on police investigations was contested by a legal team from Channel 4 news. Who won.
Dover allegations concern the use of the Tory battlebus.
Nick Clegg is also being investigated by Police for £17,000 expenses.
So far a total of 19 Police forces are investigating.

Well done to Channel 4 things not looking good for Mr Mackintosh and wonder whether there would be a bye election if allegations are proven. What a mess that would be if all 20 odd seats had to be contested again.
How come a judge was sitting in a magistrates court?

Howard,I understand Judge Baron is resident judge at Folkestone Court.
Being a unworldly chap without a hint of conspiracy theories .Why was it heard at Folkestone not Canterbury Crown Court or the High Court in London?Attempt of less publicity?

I suspect that you are more up to speed with the legal system and election expenses than I Peter so take what you say as gospel. 19 police forces dragged in to wade through paperwork taking officers off of duties that protect the public.

Howard,in many ways you are correct.Police time maybe wasted in this pursuit of law breakers.
But no one not even David Cameron is above the law.

Since large companies run circles round the systems for taxation set up by our elected representatives by exploiting 'loopholes' in the legislation, one should hardly be shocked when the parties themselves seek to exploit inadequacies in the very electoral law which they themselves have passed to supposedly limit election expenditure.
Election law relating to expenditure was badly drafted as the parties knew full well when drafting it - leaving the borderline between constituency spending and central office spending a gray area, open to 'interpretation', which we may well see played out in the courts, with the usual suspects no doubt claiming that any 'mistakes' were due to them not understanding the very rules they had written!

Given the Horlicks that UKIP have made of running TDC over the last year it's likely that the Tories would increase their majority if the election were to be re-run.

The electorate there seem to be lumbered with idiots whichever party gets in, with UKIP they promised to re-open Manston Airport even though aviation companies have tried and failed there.

Without wanting to jump to conclusions on this one I have been reading the prosecution accusations and it does seem to me that his party have left Craig out to dry. Central office have clearly been active even paying for a battle bus and the MP appears to have turned a blind eye to things when completing his paperwork but if he is found guilty someone at the top should be sharing a cell with him.

Strange how he has not been sanctioned by the Tories while our MP has been vilified and kicked out, double standards but guess whose face fits those at the top.
