It's always puzzled me why so many left-wingers on this forum seem to have an obsessive, prurient interest in the internal machinations of the other political parties. Perhaps they should get out more.
Certainly the continual yah-boo nature of most dialogue on political threads has made me avoid the forum most of the time in recent months. Let's hope Christmas provides an opportunity for people to reflect on what really is important in their lives.

Don't be puzzled peter, although im one of a few lefties I have no interest in other parties,
only highlight when they continue to fail.
It is good when your critical of all, rather than one section of those that post.
Threads have many such postings, with views on parties from the ultra right
but i note to choose to ignore them
says a lot,,,,,

Nick Clegg says attempts to curb EU migration must stop
Deputy prime minister says proposals for a cap are 'pointless' and blocking migration would only hurt the UK economy
Nick Clegg has pledged to block any fresh attempts to curb immigration from the European Union, insisting "this is where we draw the line".
The deputy prime minister dismissed Home Office proposals for a 75,000 cap on EU migrants as "pointless" and claimed without freedom of movement the National Health Service would "fall over".
David Cameron has warned he would veto further expansion of the union's borders unless reforms were agreed to crack down on "benefit tourism".
A ban on EU migrants claiming out-of-work benefits from the moment they arrive in the UK is also being rushed through parliament to be in place before access restrictions on Bulgarian and Romanian nationals are lifted on 1 January.
Migrants from all EU states will have to wait for three months before applying for jobseeker's allowance (JSA) and other out-of-work benefits.
Clegg wrote in the Sunday Times: "Sticking a big no-entry sign on the cliffs of Dover may be politically popular, but at a huge economic cost. What would happen if tonight every European living in the UK boarded a ship or plane and went home?

silly statement from clegg, nobody is suggesting booting people out and why would people currently here want to leave?
he talks of economic benefits in letting more people in yet we have about 2.6 million unemployed, an overstretched health service and a housing shortage.

Why is the European court of human rights hated by the UK right?
Court designed to protect the vulnerable is respected in Europe
but despised by many Tories and UK newspapers

Spot on KeithB.
The ECHR also helps stop us from sending murderers, rapists and other criminals back to their own country. They should also spend their prison term in their own country as we should not have to pay for their crimes (and punishment).

reg refers to an article in the guardian in post 206 but having scoured the website can find nothing on the subject of the e.c.h.r.
from what i remember most member countries ignored the rulings anyway if they didn't like them.

# 210..........par for the course......two guesses which opposition politicians party ?
Far-right BNP wish members a 'White Christmas' in racist looking greetings card
The BNP says it sent the card to its membership, as well as people in the media, bishops and opposition politicians
The far-right British National Party's (BNP) Christmas card has appeared on its website, and features the sinister slogan: "Wishing you a White Christmas".
Signed from the party's leader Nick Griffin and the BNP, a photo of a blonde-haired Caucasian girl holding a white box wrapped with a red ribbon appears on the front. The gift is tagged with a heart-shaped BNP logo.
According to the BNP website, recipients include those officially signed up to the party, as well as "various people in the media, bishops and ``opposition politicians".

Thats a bit nasty Peter, especially at this festive time of year, calling people 'scum'. Maybe they are just a bit misunderstood in a similar manner to the misunderstandings on this forum earlier this month.
You must admit that she is a very pretty young lady, and no mention of that boring 'baby jesus' nonsense either.

reg ignored the "the true meaning of christmas" thread barrie.
i actually agree with peter on this on this one, i have no time for the nightclub doorpersons and their thuggish following and have watched their following fall away over the last few years with satisfaction.

I think its like UKIP
you have a choice, highlight there failings, or say nothing and people just forget they exist.
The BNP has always been racist as much as they like to dress it all up
but i always recall barryw saying on here, by giving them publicity they thrive on it
to say nowt they fall apart, which, like reg and howard have been saying maybe is food for thought
