Dover has become the 'gateway' to business this year with the arrival of the East Kent Enterprise Gateway. At the recent launch of the Enterprise Gateway at Dover Castle, newly established local businesses shared their experiences and support they had received from the Enterprise Gateway. Dover Town Centre Management's boss met Enterprise Gateway's Director Dorothy Thom and congratulated her on the progress so far. David Somers, TCM co-ordinator, has already established a close working relationship with the Enterprise Gateway. "When Dorothy was looking for an office I put her in touch with Dover Pride and Dover District Council and helped get her new premises in Castle Street" said David.
David added "Although the Enterprise Gateway covers East Kent we wanted Dorothy and her team in Dover. It was vital for us, for her and for local businesses for the Enterprise Gateway to be centrally located in Dover."
Local businesses represented ranged from a stage management and lighting company, to an artist, a fashion designer and a costume hire service.
Town Centre Management's team also met Paul Tipple, Chairman of East Kent Enterprise Gateway who welcomed guests and congratulated Dorothy Thom and the start up businesses on their vision and sheer hard work.
David Somers also met other local business support organisations including Dover District Chamber, a local business, Business Link Kent and leaders from a wide range of sectors including construction, marketing, education and recruitment.
The successful launch showed the range of talent and entrepreneurial skill that is in Dover and the surrounding area.
