Dover RNLI lifeboat station is calling on local people to sign up as crew members and help their lifeboat station.
Anyone interested in serving on the crew must either live relatively close to the station or work in town during the day. Volunteers will be offered full training.
Crew members need to live or work no further than five miles from the lifeboat station.
Dover Lifeboat Operations Manager Capt. Peter White said: "We are a very busy station made up of people from all walks of life. However due to a few people moving away from the area we are looking for new volunteers to come and join us.
"Becoming a crew member is a very worthwhile activity. Those that join receive lifesaving skills which ensure that when the time comes they are equipped to rescue those in peril."
Dover Lifeboat's patch is from the west of Folkestone to west of Deal and involves providing services to all types of maritime commercial and leisure activities.
Less than one in 10 crew today comes from a maritime background - but all are trained to a high level of competency to be able to deal with a very sophisticated craft capable of attending all types of maritime rescue.
Anyone wishes to sign up as crew, or any local businesses willing to support staff to join as crew should contact the Lifeboat Operations Manager at Dover on 01304 204280 or in writing to Royal National Lifeboat Institution, Dover Lifeboat Station, Crosswall Quay, Union Street, Dover CT17 9BN.
Anyone interested in providing assistance for fund raising and other lifeboat associated activities can also contact the Lifeboat Operation Manager.
