The annual Christmas Lights Switch-on event, organised by Dover Town Centre Management, will take place on Saturday 25 November in the Market Square, Dover. The event is expected to be attended by a capacity crowd of 5,000 plus.
This popular all-day event will start at 11.00am and finishing at around 5pm. Amanda Barry from Coronation Street, with the Mayor of Dover will switch on the lights at 4pm.
The Christmas Lights switch-on event will cater for everyone. In the Market Square and outside Gala Bingo you will find childrens rides, an Army presentation and Ghurkha display, a 'Win a Mini' competition, the Money Shop Smart Car, the Police, a Kent Fire and Rescue demonstration, The Road show extravaganza, opera by world class tenor Miguel Moncloa, together with singers and dancers from local groups and associations. The day concludes with a Ghurkha fighting display in the Market Square, a fashion show by Monique in Chapter Eight Restaurant and ringing of St Mary's bells.
Local dignitaries, including the Chairman of Dover District Council and the Mayor of Dover and Mayors of neighbouring towns will be in attendance.
